Anthropology is the study of human evolution and fossils. I intend to go into either this field or the field of studying infectious diseases when I grow up. The history of Anthropology itself is very interesting so lets discuss what we know and what OUR theory of human evolution is, since nothing concrete has been proven.

Seriously I think study of disease is better for you. Plus it gives you more credibility

From what I know you have:
    Australopithecus
    Homo habilis
    Homo erectus
    Homo neanderthalensis
    Homo sapiens
Sorry I don't know that much about this stuff.

Yeah I'm probably going into that, but its practically the same general field, so who says I can't fossil hunt when I go to these random places in Africa to study infectious disease.
@Vassili: you are on the right track but Australopithecis is thought to not be in the direct line of human evolution, but instead an offshoot that lived at the same time as one of the Homo species (either Habilis or Erectus, they're not sure). Notice how every time a species of Homo shows up, the other human species in the area go extinct, which is especially the case with the Neandertals and Australopithecis.

"I would highly advise against going to Ethiopia unless ending up dead is your thing"--- Teacher.

France would be an interesting place, and Ethiopia would be interesting only because they have the ark of the covenant.

France is where the highest amount of Neandertal fossils and cave art has been found. Ethiopia is where the great rift valley is, and Eastern Africa is right now thought to be where human kind started.

But there are already a lot of anthropologists there. You know were shit is really going down? West Africa, where they are only now finding human ancestors. That's going to be the focus of attention in 10 years when I graduate College.

Yeah, all anthropologists that go there go in groups with several private military contractors and a lot of local workers.
