I don't think you got what I was saying. Homosexuality occurs in other species as well as our own, questioning whether it is 'not natural'. I would not call violence to protect the organisms survival and ability to pass on it's DNA random.
It happens majority time in Mammals and Birds. But no humans are not the first or only being to be homosexual.
The trouble with anti-homosexual positions is justification. There is not a single rational argument I have ever heard for it being wrong. Some common arguments are: It goes against my religious beliefs Demonstrate your religious beliefs are true. It's not natural Animals do it all the time. Why does it not being 'natural' make it wrong? Sex is for reproduction Just because the evolved purpose of sex is reproduction does not make any form of sex that is not for reproduction wrong. If everyone did it then the population would die out The population is going up, and the number of homosexuals is relatively constant.
I'd have to disagree homosexual acts have been around forever even during the time of the Greeks, I know wrestling nude in the ancient olympics doesn't mean you're gay but people nowadays view it as a gay act. So using our definition of gay would say gays did exist before the 70s and was fairly popular. I personally don't mind if someone is homosexual we're all human beings and what right do I have to say no you're not allowed to be who you want to be. If you believe they will go to hell then believe it but why do you need to kick and scream if a gay person gets married will god send you to hell because he was disappointed that you didn't stop the "evil" gays from winning. The answer is no so just let it be
I honestly dont care if gays get married or anything, I see nothing wroung with them they are human beings too.
According to my history teacher homosexuality was accepted in Ancient Greece... Homosexuality is not a threat to mankind. Just about 5% of the human population is gay...
Better yet, being gay was considered a positive thing, as two lovers in battle would fight harder to impress each other. At least, that's what I've read. Also, I haven't gone through the entire thread yet, but has anyone seen that map about legalisation of gay marriage vs cousin marriage in the US? It's absolutely disgusting.
Homo (Latin) = man/human Homos (Greek) = same Homo as is in homosexuality is derived from homos and has nothing to do with the Latin word homo...
Indeed, and seuality comes from the Latin sexus, meaning that homosexuality is part Greek, part Latin, which indeed is kinda weird. I can't remember the Latin word for "same" right now, it might pop into my mind later, or I'll have to check my dictionary this weekend.
I don't know, actually, I have had Greek for a single year, so we didn't get further than words like "bow" and "beast", but I'll look it up: Google translate gives σεξουαλικότητα, which in Latin script would be something along the lines of "seksoualikoteta", although I believe that is in modern Greek. I don't know if there's a good Ancient Greek translator, but you'd have to check one like that.
If anything, I assume it'd be the other way around. Or, this is the modern word which could be derived from the Latin word, and was different in Ancient times. I'll look up the Latin base word and see if it could be borrowed from Greek. Hmm...Google translate says sexualitatis, which I don't think is directly borrowed from Greek, although it could be altered.
In Soviet union there was such thing as homosexuals ,but man were ashamed to admit such things you know, because man has to stay man.
