So, it seems like our historical discussions are always about wars and states and ethnic genocides and political/military leaders. But what I really want to know is...what do you think are the worst fashions ever?

My pick goes to the leisure suit.

I would actually pay Stalin to walk around Vancouver wearing this.

hahhahha, yeah, mullets take the cream for hair fashion ;) Maybe the Flock of Seagulls look too.

Whigs back in the late 17th century were also pretty awesomely horrible by any standards today.

Oversized 'nerd' glasses with no lenses, skinny jeans (including 'jeggings') and 'crocs'. I'm sure there's plenty more I can think of. I can't stand 'high fashion' either. I'm not keen on those powdered-up wierdos from the early-modern period either, although 18th century 'bigwigs' don't bother me so much, probably thanks to Empire: Total War.

I could wear a 17th century wig over my mullet, leisure suit and codpiece at the same time and I bet I would look awesome.

Most soldiers in ETW don't wear wigs, but the generals, admirals, and military advisors do.

How can we stoop so low? I want suits to come back, I'd buy one right off the bat if people didn't think I looked like a blatant serial killer. Not to say that I don't look like one now, but I'd be classed as weird if I walked around in a suit.

Tell me about it, I got so much shit throughout my childhood for wearing a shirt and tie (and occassionally suits), and they thought I was the one who was conforming?! Still, no-one notices now, they just assume I have a job (I don't - i'm a university student). I wouldn't be surprised if half the people who took the piss back then don't even get dressed most days now... :p

How could you wear a suit your entire life? It takes away the pleasure of donning a suit when you go to a wedding.

    Anyway, the 70s

Not so much my entire life, as just more often than everyone else.
Anyway, blasphemy! The 70's were great, at least in my dad's opinion. Hence I couldn't agree more. Everyone who wasn't disco or a punk looked like a paedo from what I can tell.

Wearing a suit jacket, dress shirt, dress pants and nice black shoes makes me look like a serial killer?

I know I come across as a wiseguy, but come on...

If you didn't get the reference, too bad.
