Rome Total War. It was practically the launching point for all further total wars and the first "modern" total war.
Medieval 2 was the best, except that pope was really annoying. I really want empire/napoleon to be my favourites (i love the musket battles) but the provences in empire were too large/ not enough and diplomacy was terrible. Napoleon had more and smaller provences but not as big of a map and much too linear feeling to it
My favourite is Rome, although I haven't played all of them (Shogun and Medieval. Both 1 and 2 for both)
Rome total war 100 percent mate, there was a major change in gameplay and strategy when rome came out thats for sure...
Has to be Rome. The time period alone drew me towards it, but the amazing amount of fantastic improvements and I was finished. Speaking generally, I just didn't feel like that much had changed in Medieval II aside from the setting, Empire had too many flaws, and Napoleon was too limited in scope, though that one is probably my second favourite.
Medieval 2 total war, because its the only one I have ever played which I only got to play for 2 months until I tried to change somethin in files and I fucked up something and I can't play ANY total war game on my laptop. I now cry myself to sleep every night.
1. Tbh I have 0 clue on how to make a backup. And whenever I install a total war game I only see that part with the 2 paragraphs of text and logo.
This thread is a matter of which one you played first Rome or Medieval. I started on Rome and trying medieval after playing the first feels weird. Empire was extremely fun and I have hundreds of hours crammed into that game. No other game gives us what we want any better(guns and senseless fun+tactics). Napoleon should have been an addon because it downgrades compared to empire. Shogun brought nothing new to the table and I'm excited to hear what they will bring next; either a new Rome or something completely different. 1.Rome 2.Empire+Napoleon 3.Shogun 2 4.Medieval 2 (napoleon doesnt feel like a full game, just an expansion)
Medieval II and Empire, although possibly just because they're the ones i've spent the most time on (there's got to be a reason for that, right?)
Medieval 2 Total War for sure except the Pope was annoying and if you don't know what your doing you get 50 nations declaring war on you. It would be Empire Total War but it's retarded when you can take all of France in 4 provinces.
Well Fall of The Samurai is going to be a standalone game. After that they will most likely go to Victoria Total Wat and call it Empire 2 Total War.
Victoria Total War would be interesting. Seeing it go until say the late 1800s and having a Scramble for Africa.
Hopefully they skip Victoria Total war for World Total War or least incoporate it later in the game (assuming that is the next game). Favourite total war would have to be Medieval 2 / Empire, Rome and Shogun are/were good too but I'm just not interested in the historical time period.
