Lethal force is lethal force. We can't say that they could have acted better in the circumstances because we aren't qualified to make that assessment. The end result is justified because their use of lethal force is justified. No one went in with the intention to kill the bastard, but their response was not out of line.

Point isn't that they killed him, because at the end off the he did come at them armed. Point is that one single stray round and this thread would've had an entirely different tone.

You don't have to be qualified to make out a FUBAR police raid.

    EDIT: Night all.

Now you have changed the topic from overuse of force to hypotheticals.

    Seconded.
At the end of the day, how the public percieves the incident will make more difference than what the court says. The court can convict or not convict. The public can force through changes that could alter how the system works entirely. Qualification is non-existent for most voters. They vote based on their opinion.

Huh? My point this entire time has been to illustrate the negatives of letting loose 70+ rounds in a populated suburban area.

When did I say you were on that bandwagon? I merely pointed out that I disagreed with your conclusion that this action, while completely within the bounds of United States law, should be reviewed by the Supreme Court or some other high level court. I am not saying you're for removing people's rights, I am saying that I am uneasy about how every action by the police or a government related agency causes many people, not just yourself, to disregard the law in favor of a less unsavory option. I am not slandering you, I disagree with your opinion, which I have a right to do, and I in no way slandered you. I am shocked that people find simple disagreement to be equal to slander, and it is in fact, also quite unbecoming.

Seventy shots is a positively obnoxious amount, and under no circumstance should that many be fired. They're professionals, and they should conduct themselves better for it.
We aren't qualified to make a assessment on whether or not they should have killed him, but I can safely say, that in no situation with one hostile, should seventy shots be fired. That's excessive force, even if the end result is the same.

Absolutely. Even in the context of future events, it is important that a SWAT team be professional and well disciplined because that could mean the differene between life and death. @BattalionOfRed: same to you, comrade.
