Social democracy is part of socialism. Fair and square. Stop trying to pretend it isn't. The Socialist International would like to have a word with you...

Maybe Kennan is still right after almost 60 years. Communists absolutely hate social democrats. Especially in parliamentary democracies, because social democrats will always poll better in elections.

The 'Socialist' international is no longer socialist. We have a conservative party that is a member of it. A very large portion of Socialism is economics. Most of it, in fact. If you support a 'free' market, you aren't socialist. Oh, and Lenin Cat isn't a communist. He is an anarchist.

How does a welfare state, some key industrys nationalized, and basic workers rights = Workers or Societal ownership of the means of production. Please tell me, because thats what makes something socialist.

I DON'T CARE if a non-socialist entity claims there socialist.

They didn't gain any seats. But the leaders of our 'Labor' party openly confess to being Conservatives. They aren't even Social-Democrats. In fact, our furthest left party are moderates.

Thats besides the point, there is a definition of socialism, and social democracy does not fit it. It does not matter how popular socialism is.

Again, modern day social democracy has reject its socialist roots in order to remain relevant in the political world. Why exactly you want it to be socialist so bad, is beyond me.

Because of its fanbase think about it, You own a Million dollar company there is another company that is more popular then you You want to absorb it to gain its followers.

So if the social democrats are indeed socialists the ranks of the socialist agenda will swell.

I've see I've really pissed off the die hard Leftists. Sorry, but social democracy is part of socialism. Feel free to change the history books. Re-write the Wikipedia page. Storm the social democratic caucuses. If you don't like it, vote for other parties that are even more Left. The chances are is that you will stray more into fringe parties that will not be taken seriously by society at large.

Ah-ha. They didn't get any seats. Maybe that tells you how much support they have among the Australian electorate, which, by the way, must go to the polls.

What's amazing is that arguing with the extreme Left is like arguing with the extreme Right. You can't argue with them. They are incapable of change or compromise.

The social liberal base attracted to modern day social democracy and its welfare capitalism is far larger then any socialist base.

They're not socialist but they are leftist. That's ok with me. I tend to vote for socdems when I happen to vote.

People don't take serious socialism seriously because we think as a society that capitalism in any form is good.
