    So I was reading the another TIME article today and came across this:


    So What are your thoughts on America's Policy on Pakistan? Personally I think we need to change it up a lot.

    I'd have thought it was a good idea to keep Pakistan on side, as a reasonable face of Islam, or at the very least, the frontline against extremism.

    I don't think Pakistan is a "reasonable face of Islam". They don't seem to like the Americans any more. I think if someone started attacking you with unmanned drones, you'd have every right to be pissed off at them. I'm sure that they sheltered Bin Laden, too. The USA has a fragile grip on Pakistan as is.

    No. You don't. You need to send aid to the people, for God's sake, not to the army! The soil of terrorism is poorness, and if you take that away, people will feel no need for stuff to reform. If you keep sending soldiers, people will feel terrified and that will only increase the feelings of dissatisfaction. Also, didn't Josef make a video about this?

    The USA is too wimpy to go up against a country who actually has WMDs.

    There's a difference between "running away screaming" and "withdrawing in a dignified fashion". Like the Americans did at Vietnam, where Americans are still convinced that they won.

    No, what'll happen is there'll be peaceful protests. Then a crack down. Then a Civil War.
    It'll be like the rest of the Arab Spring.

    When the Civil War breaks out, we point to every minor atrocity and blow it up to be huge and then send in the marines. We then kick the revolution's ass and throw a big party.

    Actually it kind of does work that way. We just prop up the Pakistani government and unless the entire population decides to rebel we'll be fine. We don't need to back out.
