The AKP is a wonder of the Muslim world well at least in comparison to the Muslim brotherhood which has been supporting attacks on Egyptian soil for some time, not to mention that the fundamental concepts of the Muslim brotherhood appeal to even the most basic Person in Egypt.

This may be a step forward for democracy, but is this the democracy we want?

The Muslim Brotherhood, at least the Egyptian version, hasn't been linked to any terrorist activity since the eighties. Remember that Sinn Fein and the ANC once retained strong links with terrorist organisations but are now respected political parties in Northern Ireland and South Africa respectively.
It might not be what you want, but if it's what the Egyptians want who are we to deny the will of the people?
