Oh come on... You don't really believe that being "lazy and incompetent" is the only reason why students don't get a good education. If they were provided with proper teachers and proper materials they would be much better off, and many of them would be able to get a good education. Schools are meant to unlock the full potential of all students, and not just the smart ones.
Another problem is that public schools are seen as the last option, which is one of the reasons that they suck(in some areas) and the salery of teachers in public schools are lower in the US than most western countries

It's not an irregular claim; and yes, I have. It was full of mentally retarded people.

I think you'd be hard pressed to say that the majority of people in sped programs aren't mentally retarded. The entire purpose of it at my high school was to sequester the really disruptive retarded people from regular classes. Oh, and allow them to go swimming on Wednesdays. Good use of school resources there.

    EDIT: @Warburg
Public schools as a last resort? Maybe in the Bronx.

Lol no they're not. It's mostly students with ADHD or the likes. If you think they're retarded then you are wrong.
No in the US... If people could chose the vast majority would chose private.
And once again you basically ignore a response to you if you don't have a reasonable argument.
My point was that: being lazy and/or incompetent is not the main reason why many students in the US don't get a proper education.

Well, at least most of them are "lazy and incompetent". The majority of the students failing are doing so by not doing anything. It's not just misunderstanding the material presented, it is straight up just not filling in answers. I mean just flat up walking out of the class. The school system does need to be upgraded, but so do the students.

Actually we have only have about 12-15 students in my school who qualify as special needs due to mental defect. There are 5 special needs teachers because they shove everyone who does not want to work into those classes so they can pass.

Well they are not... And even if they "don't do anything" it would most likely be the fault of the school. It is the "job" of the school and teachers to make students engaged in the lessons and learn something. Not the students. That's after all what a teacher is supposed to do.
    Students can't be upgraded...

But at the same time, its the students choice to do the work or not. Some of my teachers don't give second chances on homework an such, so I have to do the work to get a good grade.

Of course, the students have a choice, but you can't expect 11-13 year olds to take a lot of responsibility or know all the consequences of their actions and if you just say "they are lazy and incompetent" they are probably not going to do it either.
Teachers are supposed to give second chances. Teachers are supposed to teach everyone and try to make everyone reach their full potential, not just the smart students. Of course some will eventually fall behind, but it's the teachers duty to try and give all students the best possible education and not leave a student behind.

Discussed this today in class, My Philosophy teacher argued that it was better that we just sent children to work in the factories to boost up our economy and kept college to a select few individuals, or make it so that its only for foreigner so we suck the best and the future of the world and bring them into this country.

Well I'm in high school so I am getting to the point where some of my teachers aren't accepting late work. Its frustrating, but it is a reminder that I need to step it up and work to the best of my ability.

I'm part of my own worst enemy camps, In some of my periods (of the 7 or 8) i do perfect in and never miss a step, however others i do shit in even when i get it right on everything (See A.P world) others i hate (See any mathematics)

But you know whats sucks when you write a 21 page report and it gets turned down because of not matching the state standards of being stupid and placing no effort on the work, oh well.

I'm also one the rebellious types who points out everything he hates about the class and teachers and wishes for there death (Like my former biology teacher....what a bitch)

Work gets in the way as well, But hey i make more already then the average teacher so who cares really?

To be honest I think the simple fact that we debate over what relationship status the government should assign to which people is extremely disgusting and disturbing.

Ehh disturbing maybe but we're trying to develop out of thousands upon thousands of years of backwards cultural concepts. In the grand scheme of things we were not cave men all that long ago you know.
