I agree you guys are correct, I just went back to re-read my post and it lacked proper detail, I never said if it slightly touched the ground, it would need too be replaced. What I truly think is that if the flag was to be serverly destroyed and was nothing but shreds, then I believe that it has no meaning because at that point is only scattered shreds of cloth. Sure their are some really patriotic people who would flip out over the slightest spec of dust on their flag. But I am in fact not one of them.

In Texas they fly the state flag at the Same Height as the USA flag I think that is more disrespectful than burning a flag.

Yeah but you're talking about Texas. If it starts with "In Texas" you pretty much don't have to read any more to know it's something wrong.

Still makes no sense. But as it's Texas, I'm still going to agree with you.

If your willing to move to Texas and break a single law you may as well say goodbye to your testacles.

Well since the government is celebrating the anniversary of the War of 1812 next year by spending millions dollars in celebrations, statues, etc. so American flag burning is going to be popular next year. Not to mention they already do it in Nova Scotia every year.

If you're going to say that Canada sucks because it hates Americans, you might as well say that every country that isn't America sucks. Unless you are a 14 year old girl with the words "A M E R I C A N" on a t-shirt that I actually fucking saw and I wanted to punch her in the fucking noggin.

No it's become something I do to Observer. Pretty much any time he says something that is slightly unfavorable about Canada I will say it's another reason Canada sucks.

It's not unfavorable, though. In fact, I would argue that it is favorable.

Nova Scotia has a fun a town that has a festival where they burn American flags, and the flag of navy. They also burn scale models of American navy ships.

We were an independent republic at one point. That's why we can get away with it.

Actually, that is considered proper flag etiquette. My Civics teacher's father burns the flag in his bathtub every time he drops it.

Flag burning is Constitutionally protected by the 1st Amendment. It's a form of expression, and freedom of speech has become essentially synonymous with freedom of expression here in the States. Burn the flag if you want, but don't expect people to like you for it.

Well you are supposed to burn the American Flag instead of throwing it out.

I've been to a couple flag retiring ceromonies, it's very solemn and a very specific routine and way on how your supposed to retire it, you burn out the stars first, then you can put the stripes in.
