Actually Lenin it says the Socialists were plotting to disband the democracy as soon as they consolidated power/the democracy voted for anything but the Left. Which isn't far fetched given it was the heart of the Cold War and the Soviet Union wasn't very fond of nations leaving their sphere.

Which of course, is wrong. Allende stayed totally within democratic means of power, even making a democratic planned economy plan.

This does however raise an interesting question. Are there cases when democracy should be subverted to stop a greater evil from emerging?
