My god, I knew the Mises institute was idiotic, but not this idiotic. http://blog.mises.org/6032/general-augusto-pinochet-is-dead/ Thats right folks, Allende wasnt a elected marxist at all, he was a soviet installed dictator, and it was only necessary to have another dictatorship to bring capitalism to Chile.
Actually Lenin it says the Socialists were plotting to disband the democracy as soon as they consolidated power/the democracy voted for anything but the Left. Which isn't far fetched given it was the heart of the Cold War and the Soviet Union wasn't very fond of nations leaving their sphere.
Lenin I used to like him alot, however in recent Months I have been viewing him more a traitor to revolution and the communist cause.
Which of course, is wrong. Allende stayed totally within democratic means of power, even making a democratic planned economy plan. @Viking, Which Lenin?
The Real Lenin I've been growing more negative towards him tough maybe i just listen to much British Socialist radio, and Allende is a Martyr for communism and democracy.
I salute you Mr. Pinochet, may you rest in peace. Free from those commie bastards although I'm sure you killed them all in whatever afterlife you find yourself in.
You failed to actually read the article LeninCat it said: And that is possibly true in 1973 Chile's council of deputies passed a resolution 81-47 to denounce the Allende regime and Specifically Allende was accused of: Ruling by decree, thwarting the normal legislative system Refusing to enforce judicial decisions against its partisans; not carrying out sentences and judicial resolutions that contravened its objectives Ignoring the decrees of the independent General Comptroller's Office Sundry media offenses; usurping control of the National Television Network and applying economic pressure against those media organizations that are not unconditional supporters of the government Allowing its Socialist supporters to assemble with arms, and preventing the same by its right-wing opponents Supporting more than 1,500 illegal "takings" of farms Illegal repression of the El Teniente miners’ strike Illegally limiting emigration Allende's further subversion of the democratic system came about when he would flat out refuse to uphold any judicial decisions that were contradictary to his party's platform and was unanimously denouced by the supreme court of Chile. This does however raise an interesting question. Are there cases when democracy should be subverted to stop a greater evil from emerging?
I'm pretty sure I fixed it before you made this comment. I mistakenly hit reply instead of edit and fixed it within 30 seconds.
