Unfortunately, not that many people know about TF2's competitive scene. So if any of your are curious or intrigued by the concept of competitive Team Fortress 2 this would be a good place to start. Interesting to see the relatively little reliance on "gun skill" and almost completely on wider strategy and teamwork. http://www.economist.com/node/21541162 An excellent article about e-sports, though it's stuff many of you will probably know, and focuses on Starcraft.
10x better than what COD will ever be, which is a steaming pile of turd. Here you don't get enemies spawning 3 feet behind you, people shooting a very predictable, fast and accurate grenade that has a 50ft blast radius (and don't forget the grenades are effectively unlimited with one of the perks), cluttered and poorly designed maps (in MW3 at least), a secondary weapon that requires no aim yet is super powerful (the FMG9 akimbo, imagine a shotgun that is very powerful, shoots very fast and has very high range, add to that the fact it's a secondary weapon alongside pistols), a stupid lag compensation mechanic that makes you impossible to win a gunfight if you're host but if you've got a shitty dial up neighbors wifi connection, you become god-like, graphics that look as outdated as my grandma's tea cosy, sound effects that are so bad they hurt (seriously have people heard the way guns sound in this game? And the grenade sound is so flat and uninspired you hardly notice it if it blows up next to you), people that abuse you in the lobbies for beating them, losing to them, being a girl, playing with friends, having a slightly unusual voice, trying to talk to your friend etc. etc.
That wasnt a reason. It was just a comparison. Think next time before you give me a report that I stop reading after the 2 sentances into it. Just a little advice there for ya.
