You could use the same logic to justify this legislation (which if you ask me is already happening anyway). The state is never going to have an easy time dealing with those who have not yet, but probably will, commit crimes.

How? the only law enforcement that follows the Federal Jurisdiction is the FBI and i am pretty sure they will only look for high value targets.

I will rebel against the strongest military force in the history of Mankind with an outdated version of some semi-automatic rifle.

    Seems legit.

Those freaking out about this bill have largely no knowledge on how the process of detainment works. While it is true that you may be held until the end of hostilities (in accordance with the Geneva Convention, article 118). You do have the right to have your case reviewed by a competent tribunal (Geneva Convention, article 5) called a Combatant Status Review Tribunals (CSRTs) composed of three commissioned military officers. The tribunals make their decisions on the detainee's status by majority vote, based on the preponderance of the evidence. The detainee has the right to attend all open portions of the CSRT proceedings, the opportunity to call witnesses on his behalf, the right to cross-examine witnesses called by the tribunal, and the right to testify on his own behalf.Specifically, detainees are given the following rights as part of their CSRT hearings: a military officer is appointed to serve as the detainee's personal representative and explains the CSRT process to the detainee, assists in the collection of relevant information, and helps prepare for the hearing. In advance of the hearing, the detainee is given a summary of the evidence supporting his designation as an enemy combatant. A member of the tribunal is required to search government files for any evidence suggesting the detainee is not an enemy combatant. The decision of every CSRT hearing is automatically reviewed by a higher authority in the Department of Defense who is empowered to order further proceedings. As a deetainee you are entitled to habeas corpus relief. Which I find amazing as the supreme court basically ignored its own precedent of Johnson v. Eisentrager and habeas hearings is to assert that the CSRT hearings that have been provided to each and every detainee have been fundamentally inadequate. Which they are not.

How did I do Pedro? I'm looking for your approval.

And Lighthouse you signature is too big

Yeah, Whenever I try to make it smaller it just shows up a few inches bigger than before. I'm trying to look for smaller pictures on google images.

Its a forum meme. It makes it a pain in the ass for you to try to read it. You have to highlight it with your mouse.

I do not have a spell check on my web browser so on long posts I have to cut and paste from a word doc and make it white manually so the 95% of the forum using the dark scheme can read it.

There might be something that just ignites a country wide revolt in USA, but we will see.
