In the case if that wasn't sarcasm, I didn't mean races but societies.

Racism by another name. Ethnocentrism, nationalism, etc. all boil down to the idea that some people are inherently different because of circumstances beyond their control, be it their skin color, nationality, or cultural heritage. Which is bogus.

I disagree. (Racism: belief that human abilities are determined by race. Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary of Current English)
And by the way are you saying that all people are the same?

We're not the same, we're all individuals. Which means that assigning traits to people by race, nationality, or ethnicity is irrational.

It's wrong to be strongly proud of your nationality to the point of you hating others. However, it's not totally wrong to be proud of it in itself. I quite like cheering on my national team in a football game. I quite like celebrating my national holiday. It's all to have a bit of fun, specifically in events like the Olympics. There's nothing wrong with giving respects to your ancestors.

Blatant, blind nationalism is a different story all together.

Being irrational is only wrong when it's used to justify or gloss over injustice, as Imperial chooses to do frequently. Of course, it's still not a good thing to be irrational.

Ouch. That false accusation amoung all the other false accusations that you have been throwing at me stands out.
I get the feeling that you read about half my posts or are even more blind than you claim me to be.

China does seem most hated, but the prestige of China its vastly underestimated prestige...

I'm not sure if that'd be qualified as nationalism. You can be proud of your culture, but nationalism is claiming that your nation and culture is superior to others.

But does that justify to be nationalist? Nationalism hinders the ability to think rationally and objectively at an issue because of the feeling that your ethical group or your nation is superior to others. That can never be objective. I sometimes feel proud of my nation and it's history too, but when I look at those feelings rationally, I see that it is foolish to think or say that.

...scientifically proven to be untrue. Otherwise, the Chinese would be their own race, and they aren't.

For the second time, I was not talking about races!
And what do you mean scientifically proven untrue. I just think that if you grow up in chinese society surrounded by chinese culture you're way of thinking will most probably be different from let's say american's way of thinking, and the way of thinking will affect these so called traits like productivity.
And by the way I'm sorry if you all misunderstood me, I didn't mean to say that chinese are better than others, every
culture/society has it's strong and weak fields.

Oh, I'm sorry. I thought that you meant the physical environment. But I think that culture does effect people's way of thinking a bit, but not a lot.

I do not really hate any countries, but personally the ones I find least interesting are probably Mexico and a lot of Spanish speaking countries in South America. That is not for any racist reasons, I have just been overexposed to it.

    @ Feybart
    I'm a bit confounded.
On one hand, you are calling me irrational as a nationalist. On the other, you are saying that what I believe is not nationalism. ???

In my case it is a bit of applying my comfort with the Chinese way of life to the country. Basically, that I like China because it is where said culture resides. I am comfortable with the culture and the culture is in that country, therefore, I like the country. Classical conditioning. I start to associate the culture with the country and vise versa.

I really hope that you have enough of your own mind to decide whether my posts REALLY amount to being, as Kali puts it, "Blinded by nationalism". From my own vantage point, I see that I aknowledge the good and the bad of China. But that is somewhat seperate from the root of my nationalism for the country.

Meh, I'm not even really sure what'd be qualified as nationalism, but I do believe that nationalism never is a good thing.

I know where nationalism comes from, but in my opinion, it might not have an effect on rational decision making, but it will never help.

I know that your posts aren't blinded by nationalism, and I can certainly look at every single one of your posts objectively, but I think that nationalism is never a good thing, and mostly a bad thing. I don't say that you are blinded or troubled by nationalism, it's never a good thing to feel.

That makes absolutely zero sense. Unless you live there and have lived there for over 40 years and studied in its universities and met its people. Latin america is more then Burrito's and Revolutions, all the countries down there are Extremely different.
