    Round 1 Results

    Match A - Round 1 - Lighthouse v. BurGroBro
Equipment - Iron longsword, iron platemail, iron helmet, undershirt of iron chainmail, iron shield
Skills - Basic fighting abilities, talented swordsman
    Other - None

So in match 1 we had an exactly equal match up between Lighthouse and BurGroBro. Lighthouse took an early lead by pummeling BurGroBro with his sword, dealing minor bruise damage and one break to BurGroBro's shield (left) hand. Despite this, BurGroBro still managed to parry most of the blows and got in a couple of good ones on Lighthouse's ribs/stomach, doing some intermediate bruises. The broken hand, however, proved to be a big weak spot for BurGroBro, as Lighthouse sliced off several of his fingers on that hand and managed to also sever a few of BurGroBro's toes in the same swing. Losing blood, and taking an increasingly heavy beating, BurGroBro was slowly pushed down onto the ground and stunned. For a brief while, he was rendered unconscious while Lighthouse wailed on his plate helm (doing minor head bruising in the process).

Then, by the grace of whatever Dwarven god that BurGroBro worshiped, he got his second wind. Still clutching his shield in his mangled and mutilitated offhand, BurGroBro charged Lighthouse and smashed his shield against Lighthouse's parry. The charge was ferocious and both launched BurGroBro's shield into the back of the room and crushed through Lighthouse's defenses. With neither arm now protecting his chest, BurGroBro began a powerful frontal assault and did major damage to Lighthouse's ribs and lungs. Lighthouse eventually regained his senses and tried to manage a defense, but was effectively powerless against the enraged BurGroBro's violent onslaught. The two tossed and tumbled, knocking each other onto the ground, where in a brutal melee, BurGroBro kicked Lighthouse hard enough in the face to smash his skull in and pierce the brain. A very brutal fight with a very unexpected turn of events.

    Match B - Round 1 - card (esac1122) v. noelsoong
Equipment - Iron longsword, iron platemail, iron helmet, undershirt of iron chainmail
Skills - Basic fighting abilities, expert swordsman
    Other - None

This match began as an entirely even showdown between Card and Noel, with both sides being quite proficient with a blade. Card opened up the fight by using the pommel of his sword to bash noel in the face, knocking loose a few of Noel's teeth in the process. Noel's reply was a succession of blows against card's left arm, dealing moderate bruise damage and slowing card's punching arm down considerably. Card, apparently seeing a gap in Noel's defense as his non-sword arm underwent a beating, struck out with precision and sliced right between the shoulder plates in Noel's armor, separating Noel's left arm from his body. Noel, obviously in shock at losing an arm, staggered backward and tripped onto the ground. Bloodloss and shock gripped him as he tried to parry card's blows from the ground. Eventually, however, Noel blacked out and Card proceeded to strike viciously at Noel's helm with his longsword.

All this rattling around may have shocked Noel back up to life, as he was spirited back up into a fighting stance. One arm gone, he sought to pay back Card in kind, and did he ever. Card's defense was broken by noel's sudden awakening, and one rapid sword-drawn charge was all it took to sever his already weakened left arm below the elbow. Noel, sensing weakness, decided to push his attack immediately.

And that's when Card sliced off Noel's sword arm.

I suppose running at your opponent, sword in the air, without any kind of defense at your mid-region isn't such a great idea. Noel's arm flew across the room, sword still in its grip, as Card laid into the maimed warrior. Taking a knee to the stomach and a sword pommel to the neck, Noel was forced onto the ground in a prone position before Card's feet. Even armless, though, Noel was not about to give up. He desperately rolled between the crushing blows of Card's longsword. For a time, Noel was able to dodge Card's attacks in this way, but it wasn't long until his bloodloss began to overpower his adrenaline rush. Once Card landed the first blow to Noel's chest the fight was effectively over. Noel succumbed to the pain and blacked out while Card bashed his iron helm over and over again in an attempt to end the fight for good. A stab between the helm and neckguard in Noel's armor was what finally sealed the deal, leaving Card the victor. Another intense, brutal battle with surprising turns on both sides.

    Match F - Round 1 - Imperial1917 v. xXxLKxXx
Equipment - Giant Cave Spider silk robes, alpaca wool sandals
Skills - Expert combat skills, grand master fighter, grand master striker
    Other - None

A hand-to-hand duel between LK and Imperial, with both sides being unbelievably good melee combatants was sure to be a wild one. Beginning the battle from across the room, LK immediately broke into a sprint towards Imperial, who stood in a defensive stance and ready to parry anything his opponent threw at him. It was no surprise for Imperial to see LK in the flying in the air before him, one leg extended in a kicking posture. It was a surprise to see the back of his own neck.

    Match G - Round 1 - teremaster v. The Shaw
Equipment - (teremaster) Iron warhammer, iron greaves, iron low boots
(The Shaw) Oaken bow, 3 adamantine arrows, 1 steel arrow, 1 golden arrow
Skills - (teremaster) Basic combat skills, talented hammerer
(The Shaw) Basic combat skills, expert dodger, high master archer
Other - The Shaw is an elf, while teremaster is a dwarf

An archer versus a hammerer. An elf versus a dwarf. Elegant precision versus brute force. The Shaw versus teremaster. Starting a few dozen paces from each other, The Shaw and teremaster were each proficient in their chosen profession, though The Shaw much more so than teremaster. Still, teremaster had the advantage of armor and time on his side. When the battle began, The Shaw immediately loosed one of his adamantine arrows at teremaster, and managed to pierce his left shoulder with it.

And then he ran. Like a little girl. Dropped all of his arrows, holstered his bow, and ran away.

Needless to say, teremaster wasn't about to let The Shaw flee. Their dueling room was positioned on one of the mid-level floors, and connected to the other areas via a series of ramps on the far side. The Shaw had a decent head start, but in a dead sprint teremaster was considerably faster. As soon as he caught up to The Shaw, teremaster swung his hammer horizontally, crushing The Shaw's stomach and sending him flying towards the downward leading ramp. The Shaw tried feebly to crawl down the ramp, vomiting up blood along the way. Teremaster was in full pursuit this entire time (the blow he gave Shaw earlier had actually transported the elf across a good portion of the room) and the moment he came within striking distance he crushed the leg bones of The Shaw, who at this point was screaming in pain and vomiting obscenely. Teremaster took his sweet time ending the torture, however, choosing first to smash both of the Shaw's arms and hands into dust, and give his lungs a good rupturing before bringing down his warhammer on The Shaw's forehead and putting an end to the elf.

    Match J - Round 1 - RonaldRaygun v. mdhookey
Equipment - (Ronald) Steel battleaxe, Giant Cave Spider silk robes, alpaca wool sandals, leather gloves
(mdhookey) Iron longsword, iron chainmail, iron greaves, iron low boots, iron gauntlets
Skills - (Ronald) Talented combat skills, expert axeman
(mdhookey) Talented combat skills, proficient swordsman, expert armor user
Other - Ronald is an elf, mdhookey is just a standard human

RonaldRaygun, the personification of death itself, pitted against mdhookey, an archetypal paladin with a penchant for heavy armor use. mdhookey made the opening move, attempting a full on charge against Ronald, knowing full well that his armor was superior and his opponent only marginally better trained. Ronald, however, sidestepped this initial charge with ease, and in the process brought his axe along the entirety of mdhookey's torso. The chainmail, while good at deflecting smaller blows and absorbing most of the impact from blunt weapons, could simply not stand up to the fine edge of Ronald's battleaxe. mdhookey stumbled to the ground, blood spraying from his abdominal region, while Ronald repositioned himself behind the man. A swift kick to the back of the head not only strongly disoriented mdhookey, but it jostled his body enough to cause his intestines to start spilling from the gaping wound in his torso. Focused more on gathering up his organs than killing his opponent, mdhookey wasn't even aware when Ronald used the edge of his axe to sever his spinal cord and leave him dead.

    Match P - Round 1 - Karakoran v. Benerfe
    Equipment - Iron maul
    Skills - Expert combat skills
Other - Kara and Benerfe are both male trolls

The battle of the trolls, one so filled with meatheaded antagonism that it had to be relocated to the open-air coliseum. Both Kara and Benerfe wielded massive iron mauls and lacked any kind of other weapons or armor, making this nothing more than a straight-up slugfest. And indeed, the battle opened up with an attempted punch at Kara by Benerfe. Unfortunately for Benerfe, Kara simply took the blow and brought down his iron maul on his opponent's elbow. Benerfe's punching arm was shattered completely at the elbow, and was functionally useless except as a primitive club. This was hardly the first thing on Benerfe's mind as he entered shock and was stunned by the extreme pain. Kara, not wanting to miss this opportunity, took a massive horizontal swing at Benerfe, shattering the troll's ribs and crushing one of his lungs. Needless to say, Benerfe was not in good shape. As Benerfe convulsed on the floor, Kara raised his maul and destroyed his opponent's maul-wielding arm in similar fashion as to how he had crushed the other arm. Finally blacking out from the extreme pain and nausea, Benerfe was unaware when Kara smashed his brain into mush.

There were a few other mildly interesting battles that took place in Round 1, including the one between Romulus and Lennins Beard which involved metal whips and no clothing, but I gotta leave some fun for the coming rounds. And oh boy, will there ever be fun.

    Hydra Incident

Goddamn you motherfuckers, you really wowed me with your capacity for bravery, foolhardiness, and opportunism. Some extremely epic shit went down, and none of it was planned.

So I'll explain what happened by first noting that this event took place during Round 2 between Match AA and AB. Thus all characters mentioned in this escapade had already fought and won their respective duels, and some had injuries to boot. You should also probably get a general idea of the layout of the dueling arena. So the entire map constitutes the object testing arena, and within it are four quadrants. All of the quadrants are connected to a cross-shaped land bridge by a series of actual raised bridges. On the west side there's a big open air chamber surrounded by lava, and a massive pool of water (used in water-based fights). On the east side there are two main structures: an open air, multi-story ramp, and a building that includes several individual dueling chambers and a large open courtyard on the top floor. For the purposes of the tournament I primarily use the dueling chambers inside the carved-in building. There are four floors in the main part of the structure, and an upper section that goes up much higher but doesn't include dueling chambers. At the bottom is a basement that connects all of the second and third floor dueling chambers together, while the top is more or less like a hotel lobby. So, with that in mind, here's what happened:

I had accidentally spawned a hydra, a seven headed dragon-like creature, when I was spawning Mayor, because the hydra is only one space down from male humans. It proceeded to immediately decapitate slydessertfox, who was in the dueling chamber with it. Since it was staying put, I was like, whatever, and just moved the duel between Mayor and sly into an unoccupied dueling chamber on the same floor. So the duel goes fine and Mayor ends up being the victor, but then I notice that down the hall the hydra has exited its dueling chamber.

Ronald, who was occupying the nearest chamber, walks out and is immediately charged by the hydra. Before Ronald can even act, three of the hydra's heads converge on him and bite off his legs and left hand. On the way to the ground, Ronald managed to slice across two of the hydra's necks with his axe, cutting them deeply. Ronald, however, was not long for the world. As soon as he hit the ground the other five heads began an extremely gory feast on Ronald's body, rending his lungs, stomach, and heart before he finally bled out.

It was then that Mayor, having heard the ruckus (all of the combatants have grand master observation skills), emerged from his dueling chamber and was tackled to the ground by the hydra. Two of the heads struck Mayor while he lay pinned, biting his right foot and left arm off, but he managed to get in a severe thrashing with his scourge on the hydra's necks before succumbing to blood loss.

LK, resident martial arts badass, had come down from his dueling chamber on the third floor (at this point, pretty much all of the duelists were starting to come out of their dueling rooms) to see the hydra in the stairwell. Being the stone-cold badass that he is, LK karate chopped that fucker and stunned the hydra with sheer awesome. A rain of kickassery commenced, with LK pummeling the hydra with high powered kicks, punches, and other assorted melee attacks. Once the hydra did finally come to its senses, it proceeded to bite both legs and the right arm off of LK, who was kicking its ass even while his limbs were being eaten. His one good left arm managed to inflict serious bruise and fracture damage to the throats of several heads, causing the hydra to have difficulty breathing. Even when the hydra bit off his left hand, LK used his mouth as a weapon and bit at the hydra's feet. Unfortunately, this was not to last, and LK bled out with no major limbs still attached to his body.

Now, during this fight, there was also a lot of incidental shit going on in the dueling building. Kali and teremaster encountered each other in the hallway on one side of the building, while Lucy, Demondaze, and matt ran into each other on the other. Teremaster might have presented a larger threat to Kali, but the first move in the battle ended up with tere's hammering hand severed and his weapon launched across the hallway. In a series of swift slashes and stabs, Kali cut off teremaster's offhand arm and ran him through with his electrum longsword.

Lucy, Demon, and matt had entered close melee range at this point, with Lucy caught in between Demon on her front and matt to her back. Demon attacked first and managed to pierce Lucy's collarbone with his scimitar before losing his several fingers on his offhand to Lucy's greataxe. During their little scuffle, matt had taken both of his steel daggers and rammed them through Lucy's ankles. Pinned to the ground, Lucy really didn't stand a chance when Demon perforated her lungs and heart with his scimitar. Demon's scimitar still stuck in Lucy's body, matt took immediate and deadly action, beheading Demon between his daggers. The battle in the basement ended with Demon's head launched into an as-of-yet unused dueling chamber, and matt covered in blood (but unscathed).

As Chelsea, Lennins Beard, and card had escaped the underground portion of the dueling chamber and emerged topside, where they all wandered around looking for an exit to the object testing arena, Kali and matt both made their way towards the top. Card and Chelsea crossed each others' paths and began a fight, though Chelsea (using a 2 handed sword and having only one hand remaining after her duel) was disadvantaged from the start. Card parried successfully and used his counterstrike to sever Chelsea's left foot, sending her to the ground. While she lay on the ground, he struck out at her right leg and cracked her steel greaves inwards, which punctured an artery. With limited power and reach, Chelsea attempted to attack Card from the prone position, but he dodged away. Combined with around twenty minutes (in-game) of continuous blood loss from losing her hand in her duel (the very first on the tournament schedule), the severed artery drained Chelsea of blood in a matter of moments. Just as this duel ended and Card started heading across the bridge to the northeast quadrant, Kali emerged from the innards of the dueling building and ran into Lennins Beard.

The naked sadomasochist was no serious threat to Kali, who parried the first lash that Lennins Beard made and then used the counterstrike to sever his whip hand. While Lennins Beard tried to strike at Kali with his offhand, Kali stabbed him in the gut several times. Still, Lennins Beard got in one good punch on Kali's sword hand and did serious bruise damage to it before he was run through the eye with the electrum longsword.

During this whole encounter, matt had emerged onto the surface himself, and headed straight for the duelists upon coming outside. Just as Kali pierced his sword through Lennins Beard's eye, matt stabbed him in the right arm. This blow severed a motor nerve in Kali's sword arm and subsequently severed his grip on the longsword (which lay in the eyesocket of LB). With one of his daggers matt stabbed Kali in the right leg, and with the other he stabbed in Kali's back. Spinal cord severed, Kali had no way to retaliate as matt finished him off with a strike to the temple.

Card had managed to put a lot of distance between himself and matt (now the only other surviving duelist), and was now sprinting down into the underground tunnel that connected the dueling building with the open-air ramp. Matt gave chase, but he was nowhere near Card when the hydra showed up. At the end of the tunnel lay the monster, all seven heads still attached (though some just barely), but Card wasn't scared. He had bested not only his opponent, but also Chelsea, and wasn't about to be taken down by some punk-ass lizard. Card charged straight at the beast, sword arm raised, plate mail still fully intact.

    And then he was decapitated.

One of the hydra's heads simply reached out slightly further than Card could reach with his sword and bit his head off. As Card's body tumbled unceremoniously to the floor, Matt entered the tunnel. Seeing the beast, he immediately sprinted for the high ground and an open battlefield. The hydra gave chase, and before long both were in the southeast quadrant courtyard, readying themselves for battle. Matt struck first, getting a solid cut on the hydra's seventh neck, and nearly cut it off altogether. In response, the hydra bit Matt's left foot off, but even in the prone position Matt was a threat, as he dragged his blades along the underbelly of the beast. As its guts began spilling out onto the arena floor the hydra used its remaining healthy heads to attack Matt, tearing off his left arm and right leg. The hydra then lifted him into the air with one of its mouths and clamped down hard on his torso, rending his lungs and stomach. Matt died only moments later from blood loss, but the hydra was fatally wounded. Through the combined efforts of Ronald, Mayor, LK, and Matt, the beast was finally brought down, perishing with several duelist's limbs (most notably Card's head) still in its jaws.

I mean damn folks, that shit was just awesome. The rounds themselves were great, but this felt like a fucking fight for survival against everyone else. And the best part is that NOBODY WON. Not even the fucking mythical beast of doom. Anyways, Round 2 is just about concluded and I'm going to update the brackets to reflect the outcomes of the matches so far, but with more stuff like this I think we have a lot to look forward to.

    Round 2 Results

So, Round 2 being concluded, I'll post the summaries of each match.

    Match Q - Round 2 - Chelsea v. BurGroBro
Equipment - (Chelsea) Steel platemail, steel 2h sword
(BurGroBro) Steel platemail, steel longsword, steel shield
Skills - Proficient combat skills, expert swordsman, talented armor user
    Other - None

The battle between Chelsea and BurGroBro, two heavily armed and armored knights, began with a long series of dodges and parries by both parties. BurGroBro landed the first blow, striking Chelsea's left arm and bruising it through the steel plate. Chelsea responded by cleaving through BurGroBro's breastplate and smashing one of his ribs in the process. Realizing the gravity of his situation, BurGroBro went on the immediate offensive, and swung hard at Chelsea's sword arm. A quick dodge by Chelsea put her in a favorable position to strike, but before she could, BurGroBro simply used his momentum to power himself into another attack on Chelsea. Catching her between her steel gauntlets and actual platemail, BurGroBro lopped off her left hand. By now, however, Chelsea was more than ready to swing, and cleaved off BurGroBro's left arm. As his arm flew towards the entrance of the dueling chamber (and eventually landed on the bridge outside of the room) his body was sent blasting towards the stone wall on the far side of the room. The impact crushed one of his lungs, and combined with the sudden loss of an arm BurGroBro entered into shock. Chelsea walked over to his seizing body and finished the match with a stab to BurGroBro's neck.

    Match R - Round 2 - Card v. UnitRico
Equipment - (Card) Steel breastplate, reindeer leather trousers, steel longsword, reindeer leather gloves, phantom spider silk (white) cape, reindeer leather low boots
(UnitRico) Steel breastplate, steel longsword, reindeer leather hood, reindeer leather gloves, reindeer leather trousers, reindeer leather low boots
Skills - Proficient combat skills, expert swordsman, expert dodger
Other - I imagine card looks quite a lot like this:

The fight between Card and UnitRico was a fight between the sword duelists who preferred mobility and agility to bulk defense. Both expert swordsmen, both confident in their abilities, each fighter was certain of victory over the other. UnitRico made the first move, charging at Card and making a series of slashes with his sword at Card's torso. Parrying with one hand, pushing his bangs out of his eyes with the other, Card was in his moment. Between the clangs of clashing steel and Card's billowing cape, his haughty laughs were entirely audible. Eventually Card tired of remaining on the defensive and used a parry to counterstrike at UnitRico's arm. He slashed across the right forearm and gave UnitRico a deep gash, but as his sword arm was extended his opponent struck out. Stabbing Card in the left foot, UnitRico then used the pommel of his sword to bash Card onto the ground. Card, now angry that his opponent dare draw his blood, sliced off UnitRico's left leg. So began an intense grappling battle on the ground, as both parties attempted to roll on top of the other and pin them. During this melee, UnitRico kicked Card in his offhand, bruising it, and Card dealt a swift knee to UnitRico's chest. The wind knocked out of his opponent, Card took his chance and made a single vertical stab through the underside of UnitRico's chin and out the top of his skull. The battle over, Card gave a harumph, and hobbled over to the corner of his dueling chamber, sitting down to tend to his foot wound.

    Match S - Round 2 - LeonTrotsky v. Lucy
Equipment - (Lucy) Steel platemail, steel great axe, steel helm, steel chain shirt, steel gauntlets
(LeonTrotsky) Steel platemail, steel longsword, steel helm, steel chain shirt, steel gauntlets
Skills - (Lucy) Proficient combat skills, expert swordsman, expert armor user
(LeonTrotsky) Proficient combat skills, expert axeman, expert armor user
    Other - None

Another battle between heavy armor users, Lucy and Leon were both experts in their respective fields. Added to the fact that they were both skilled in moving with full plate on, and it's easy to see that the fight would be decided by whoever got the first real opportunity. Indeed, as LeonTrotsky made the first move towards Lucy, and stabbed outward with his longsword, she dodged and returned his attack with a slash of her axe. For several minutes the two armored titans traded missed blows as they dodged around their opponent's strikes. In an attempt to break the stalemate, Leon swung left with his sword and forced Lucy to dodge in the opposite direction. With his offhand he proceeded to punch her square in the jaw, knocking loose one of her teeth. Lucy's response was something Leon didn't see coming, as she simply brought her axe down on his helm while he was unable to dodge. Not only did the strike crack the steel plate, but it crushed all the way down into his skull and split his brain. Lucy wiped the blood off of her mouth and used the pleats of her armor to wipe her axe clean of blood and gray matter.

    Match T - Round 2 - pottman v. Kali
Equipment - (Kali) Steel breastplate, electrum longsword, reindeer leather trousers, reindeer leather gauntlets, reindeer leather low boots
(pottman) Steel breastplate, steel longsword, steel chain shirt, steel gauntlets, steel high boots
Skills - Proficient combat skills, expert swordsman, expert dodger, talented armor user
Other - Electrum is an alloy of gold and silver which has a better shear elasticity (sharpness) than steel, but is considerably less dense and more malleable and thus has far less blunt impact

Another match between duelists who prefer to use a sword but no shield, this time pottman, a rather heavily armored swordsman, was pitted against Kali, a lightly armored and uniquely armed opponent. Pottman attacked as soon as the battle began, rushing straight at Kali with his longsword. Kali dodged the strike and attempted one of his own at pottman's shoulder, but it was parried. The counterstrike missed and Kali took up position behind pottman. Pottman simply rammed himself backward, pushing Kali along with himself onto the ground. From this position Kali was trapped under pottman's heavy armor, but was presented with an excellent vantage point for an attack at pottman's head. Pointing his sword straight at pottman's skull, he rammed forward and sliced right through the steel platemail before cutting into pottman's brain and ending the fight. Rolling out from underneath his opponent, Kali straightened his clothing and waited by the door to his dueling chamber, unscathed.

    Match U - Round 2 - D3adtrap v. Lennins Beard
Equipment - (Lennins Beard) Steel whip
(D3adtrap) Steel mail shirt, steel mace, steel chain leggings, steel helm, steel high boots
Skills - (Lennins Beard) Proficient combat skills, talented dodger, expert lasher
(D3adtrap) Proficient combat skills, expert maceman
    Other - None

The naked lasher, Lennins Beard was locked in combat with the Nordic knight D3adtrap. Armed with only a steel whip, while his opponent had steel armor and a heavy mace, it didn't look good for Lennin's Beard. Right at the beginning of the match Lennins Beard was tackled to the ground and bashed repeatedly in the stomach with D3adtrap's mace. Utilizing some latent strength, Lennins Beard was able to throw D3adtrap off and stand back up before his opponent. The first lash with the steel whip didn't do much but dent his opponent's armor. The second left deep scratches in it. By the fourth, the steel whip was lashing all along D3adtrap's back, and the heavily armored warrior was paralyzed by the extreme pain and unable to respond or even move away. As Lennins Beard continued lashing D3adtrap's back, more and more skin and fat were torn away. Eventually getting down to the point where the bones of the spine were visible, it wasn't long before the nervous tissue connecting D3adtrap's brain to his body was ripped away and the warrior lost all motor control. Repeated lashes to the head ripped the steel helm right off D3adtrap's head and exposed his skull to the vicious steel whip. Only a few lashes more were necessary to rend his brain and put an end to the duel.

    Match V - Round 2 - LeninCat v. LK
Equipment - (LeninCat) Steel breastplate, bronze spear, steel gauntlets, steel greaves, steel low boots
(LK) Phantom spider silk headscarf, phantom spider silk trousers, phantom spider silk tunic, phantom spider silk sandals
Skills - (LeninCat) Proficient combat skills, expert spearman
(LK) Talented combat skills, grand master fighter, grand master striker
    Other - None

Though LK had proven his worth in a fight against fellow martial artist Imperial 1917, it remained to be seen whether or not he could duke it out with an armored, armed opponent in single combat. LeninCat wielded a bronze spear, and immediately sprinted at LK. His charge ended with the spear going straight through LK's left arm, tearing the muscle and doing quite a bit of nerve damage. Yet, the spear was now stuck in LK's arm, and it being a two handed weapon, LeninCat didn't have an effective means to either attack or defend until his spear was retrieved. LK, now thoroughly pissed off about his arm being speared and LeninCat's attempt to retrieve it (basically a lot of twisting and yanking), unleashed hell on LeninCat with his right fist and legs. Starting with LeninCat's right hand, LK broke his thumb and several other of LeninCat's fingers, so that he was effectively wielding the spear with only one hand. Kicks to Lenin's chest ended up breaking several ribs, even through the steel plate, and one punch in particular shattered a rib and pushed the resulting bone fragments into Lenin's lungs. Losing grip on his spear due to the repeated beatings and thrashings, LeninCat was crushed onto the ground by LK. In a kneeling position, LeninCat sat dazed, as LK performed one final roundhouse kick to Lenin's head, and snapped his neck. The battle over, LK pulled the spear out of his left arm and waited by the door to his chamber.

And, an aside here, LK had already had his left arm (the only one that didn't get bitten off by the hydra, at least for a while) pierced and his motor nerves there severely damaged when the hydra escaped. This means that he was using his weakest limb to attack the hydra while his others were being eaten. Certainly merits an honorable mention for badassery.

    Match W - Round 2 - fucking faggot v. teremaster
Equipment - (fucking faggot) Steel platemail, steel pike, steel helm
    (teremaster) Steel platemail, steel hammer
Skills - (fucking faggot) Proficient combat skills, expert pikeman
(teremaster) Proficient combat skills, expert hammerman
    Other - None

fucking faggot and teremaster differed only by their choice of weapons, each being content with heavy armor and a bulky defensive fighting style. Opening the fight, fucking faggot, with his superior reach, stabbed teremaster in the left hand, disabling his opponent's ability to wield his hammer with full strength. Teremanster responded by bringing his hammer down on fucking faggot's extended right arm, breaking it at the elbow. With fucking faggot still reeling from the pain, teremaster took a horizontal swing at Uni's head and caught the edge of his helm, flinging it off. A strong blow to the chest crushed Uni's lungs, and he was forced to his knees. A potentially life ending blow missed fucking faggot's head at the last second and destroyed his nose instead. Teremaster was quick to recover, and made sure the second time that his swing was on target, hitting Uni in the temple and caving in his skull, killing him. A rather short, brutish fight.

    Match X - Round 2 - Demondaze v. FeyBart
Equipment -(Demondaze) Steel breastplate, steel scimitar, phantom spider silk turban, phantom spider silk face scarf, reindeer leather sandals, reindeer leather gloves, reindeer leather trousers
(FeyBart) Steel breastplate, steel mace, reindeer leather hood, reindeer leather gloves, reindeer leather trousers, reindeer leather low boots
Skills - (Demondaze) Proficient combat skills, expert swordsman, expert dodger
(FeyBart) Proficient combat skills, expert maceman, expert dodger
    Other - None

Demondaze and FeyBart were both duelists of a sort, but Demondaze preferred the scimitar and a slightly lighter set of combat armor while FeyBart used the traditional setup with the exception of using a mace instead of a longsword. The fight began with FeyBart's strike on Demon's left arm, which dealt major bruise damage and hurt Demon's ability to move around the battlefield. When FeyBart next struck, Demon parried, and used his counterstrike to break FeyBart's mace arm with the pommel of his scimitar. Now unable to move his arm, FeyBart was essentially powerless as Demondaze stabbed him in the leg and slashed across his torso. A particularly vicious strike tore both of FeyBart's lungs open, and the shock from this attack left FeyBart stunned. His opponent dazed, Demon was able to decapitate FeyBart with a single slash of his scimitar.

    Match Y - Round 2 - matt v. battleearl
Equipment - (Matt) Steel breastplate, dual steel daggers, reindeer leather trousers, reindeer leather sandals, reindeer leather gloves, reindeer leather hood
(Battleearl) Steel platemail, steel longsword, steel shield, steel helm, steel chain leggings
Skills - (Matt) Proficient combat skills, professional knife user, expert dodger
(battleearl) Proficient combat skills, expert swordsman, expert shield user
    Other - None

Another matchup between an agile, offensive fighter, matt, and a well armored, stationary, defensive fighter, battleearl. Matt began the fight with a straight charge at battleearl, who put himself in a defensive stance and braced for impact. Unfortunately for battlearl, he wasn't quite ready for the impact that matt created, as the steel daggers went straight through his breastplate and sheared off his ribs as they impacted vital organs. The pain was intense, and while battleearl did attempt an attack, matt dodged it, and used the opening to cut off battleearl's left hand with one dagger, and stab him in the eye with the other. This killed battleearl instantly, leaving matt unscathed and the clear victor.

    Match Z - Round 2 - Achtung Kommunisten v. Ronald
Equipment - (AK) Steel platemail, steel two-handed sword, steel helm
(Ronald) Steel battleaxe, Giant Cave Spider silk robes, alpaca wool sandals, leather gloves
Skills - (AK) Proficient combat skills, expert swordsman, expert armor user
(Ronald) Proficient combat skills, expert axeman, expert dodger
Other - Ronald is an elf, AK is a human

Ronald found himself in a similar matchup to the round before, though in this case Achtung Kommunisten was a two-handed specialist. Ronald acted first, charging at AK and swinging in a large arc about his wait. AK dodged and swung out himself, starting a long series of misses and dodges. Eventually AK tired out, having such heavy armor, and had to begin parries. He kept up the parries for a good while before Ronald managed to break through his defenses and cleave AK's left arm off. Reduced to one hand gripping his two handed sword, AK was able only to bash Ronald's leg with it before Ronald again attacked and separated AK's other arm from his body. Still standing, but armless, AK had no way to defend himself apart from dodges. Surprisingly, he kept this routine up for another few minutes before finally being struck again, when Ronald cracked his breastplate. Another few swings and Ronald had broken through entirely and began hacking away at AK's chest. Both of his lungs were cut before Ronald hacked his heart apart and killed him.

    Match AA - Round 2 - slydessertfox v. MayorEmanuel
Equipment - (Mayor) Steel platemail, steel helm, steel scourge
(sly) Steel platemail, steel helm, steel longsword, steel shield
Skills - (Mayor) Proficient combat skills, expert lasher
(sly) Proficient combat skills, expert swordsman
    Other - None

A well armored lasher equipped with a far less range-competent, but far more vicious weapon against a standard sword-and-shield knight. Mayor took the initiative in this battle, closing to scourging range and immediately lashing out with it. This first strike broke sly's shield hand and forced him to drop it while the second broke his left foot, throwing him off balance. Sly tried to get a blow in, but as he raised his sword Mayor lashed his forearm and shattered all of its bones. Now unable to act in any effective way, sly was powerless to the unrelenting assault by Mayor. Mayor tore sly's throat open and then severed the nerve tissue on his spine, killing sly.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So this is what all happened prior to the hydra incident. Everyone except Mayor, matt, and myself had some kind of existing injury during that whole conflict. LK in particular comes off as extra badass with the knowledge that he was already seriously messed up when he encountered the hydra. All of the following rounds took place in a fresh object testing arena and did not involve any peculiar hijinks outside of what happened in the rounds.

    Match AB - Round 2 - Toast v. SovietEmpireUSSR
Equipment - Reindeer leather armor, oaken training sword, reindeer leather trousers, reindeer leather sandals
Skills - Proficient combat skills, proficient swordsman
    Other - None

This fight was going to be brutal from the start, since neither fighter was equipped with directly lethal weapons, and neither was particularly skilled with their weapon. Still, they were on even footing and had the same equipment, so the victor here would be one who deserved it. The beginning of this fight was characterized by a series of attacks by both parties on the other, without either really being able to dodge or parry their opponent's attacks. It was Toast who first landed a solid, and critically important, blow, breaking Soviet's right wrist and forcing him to drop his weapon. At this point Soviet could do little against the horrendous volume of strikes made by Toast, and had his facial features reduced to mush as Toast pounded it with the pommel and flat of his sword. Toast eventually became fixated on Soviet's right leg, and struck it over and over again, forcing his opponent to the ground. After around twenty or so blows with the wooden sword, Soviet's femur shattered and the bone fragments pierced his femoral artery. The bleeding was massive and rapid, but it didn't bring Soviet a swift death. Instead, he died over the next agonizing minute, as Toast slammed his head into the ground, kicked him in the torso, and bashed him with the wooden sword.

Match AC - Round 2 - Soviet Streltsy v. pedro
Equipment - (Soviet) Steel platemail, steel longsword, steel gauntlets
(pedro) Reindeer leather armor, reindeer leather trousers, reindeer leather cowl, steel gloves, steel low boots, phantom spider silk cape
Skills - (Soviet) Proficient combat skills, expert swordsman
(pedro) Professional combat skills, high master striker, high master fighter
    Other - None

Soviet had claimed victory over his last opponent with a precision strike to their neck, proving his potency with a blade. But how would pedro, an unarmed specialist, fare against this swordsman? Confident in his abilities, Soviet struck first, going for a stab to pedro's left arm. It contacted, pierced the leather armor, and was lodged in the wound. As Soviet wrestled with the embedded blade, pedro grappled his opponent's sword arm. First locking the elbow, pedro then proceeded to shatter it and leave Soviet in extreme pain and without a weapon. Several steel-booted kicks to the chest shattered Soviet's ribs and a punch to the fact sent him to the floor. Pedro brought his armored foot down on Soviet's head and crushed it, ending the fight.

    Match AD - Round 2 - ComradeLer v. Chives
Equipment - (Chives) Steel platemail, steel mace, steel helm
(ComradeLer) Steel platemail, bronze spear, steel helm
Skills - (Chives) Proficient combat skills, expert maceman
(ComradeLer) Proficient combat skills, expert spearman
    Other - None

Ler and Chives squared off in a maceman on spearman duel, with one having the advantage in a melee and the other at range. Ler began combat by stabbing Chives straight in the left elbow, and then twisted the spear around to tear more motor and sensory nerves. Chives retaliated by pressing the attack with his mace, smashing Ler in the stomach. Instead of continuing his attack on Chives' arm, Ler pulled his spear out and went for the feet. He pinned Chives to the ground through his right foot, and again twisted the spear for extra damage and pain. Chives, unimpressed, again attacked with his mace, and crushed Ler's left shoulder. Ler once more removed his spear, and this time went for the kill: aiming straight at Chives' head. The thrust broke through Chives' skull, brain, skull again, and then went out the back of his steel helm.

Match AE - Round 2 - Viking Socrates v. Observer
Equipment - (Viking) Steel platemail, steel longsword, steel helm
(Observer) Steel platemail, steel halberd, steel helm
Skills - (Viking) Proficient combat skills, expert swordsman
(Observer) Proficient combat skills, expert axeman
    Other - None

Observer was the first contestant to opt for the halberd, a long pole with an axe and a pointed tip, kind of a cross between spear and battleaxe. Viking had already bested an axeman before, however, so fighting Observer couldn't be all that difficult, right? Well in the first move of the fight, this seemed true. Observer struck first but had his stab easily parried by Viking, who then counterattacked and landed a strike on Observer's right shoulder. Again Observer struck, and Viking parried, but this time around Observer was ready and parried his opponent. Things continued in this way for a minute or so, when Observer finally got past his opponent's defenses and stabbed Viking in the right foot, severing a sensory nerve in the process. Viking got an excellent attack opportunity while Observer's halberd was stuck in his foot, and took it by stabbing Observer straight through the chest. Unfortunately for Viking, he missed all of the vital organs and simply managed to get his weapon stuck. Observer pulled his halberd free, severed Viking's sword arm at the elbow (leaving everything from there up, including the sword, still embedded in his chest), and kicked his opponent onto the ground. Viking's left foot was then severed by Observer, and while writing in pain on the ground he was stabbed numerous times in the gut. Observer eventually tired of the fight and stabbed Viking straight in the head, killing him.

    Match AF - Round 2 - Link v. Karakoran
    Equipment - Steel maul
    Skills - Professional hammerman
Other - Both Link and Kara are male trolls

Another troll on troll match, Link and Karakoran were exactly even in terms of skill and equipment, the only thing separating them was Kara's record so far. And yet, when Link charged at the beginning of the round, Kara's parry failed him and Link was able to smash Kara's ribs with his maul. Kara reeled backward from the attack and stumbled to the ground. Link approached Kara, who was at knee height, and gave one good horizontal whack. Kara's head came clean off and catapulted to the far side of the coliseum, leaving his body slumped over and Link the victor.

There it is folks, Round 2 concluded. Up next will be Loser's Bracket Round 1, followed by Round 3.

    Yeah pretty much.

    EDIT: @Demon
Alas, it was not to be. Shaw couldn't quite resist the impact force of teremaster's hammer with his head.
