The barbarians were pillaging EVERYWHERE. Pacificism hampered their ability to DEFEND against the barbarians they HAD to fight.

Calm down. Pacifists do not have a natural aversion to violence. You are a very temperamental person.

Did Poland want to fight the Germans in WWII? The tribes were settling in Roman land, which was sometimes given to them. However, they wanted more, and were more than prepared to fight for it. The Romans had no other choice than to defend themselves, pacifists or not.

Are you serious? You must be kidding. Rich Empire + undefended + little chance of being captured or executed= BIG OPPORTUNITY FOR BARBARIANS LOOKING TO GET RICH. They had to fight whether they wanted to or not. Not to mention, many of the barbarian leaders wanted to be emperor themselves, another reason why they continued to raid a pillage.

Christianity allows the defending of your life. The apostles traveled with their sword on the road. So no I don't think Christianity was reason why the Romans didn't defend that well........................................

I don't think most of the Christians were pacifists. When you look at all of the wars since it was founded.

Uhuh. Back then, Christianity was kind of Judaism, with a few changes. Right now, it's Judaism mixed with Latin and Germanic cultures.

    BTW, you joining the chat?

If anything, man screwed it up. While what Jesus taught (you know, the peace and love hippie stuff) was all fun and dandy, barely anyone actually lives by those teachings.

This video explains quite well why the Bible should never be taken seriously. Especially the last two minutes of it make quite a good point.
