Well, there were some skirmishes, but really, the Dutch weren't involved in North America for that long, and even though they apparently colonised more than just Manhattan (which I originally thought), they really didn't have such a presence in the area to where they'd go on a massacring spree.
Thats true, but the New Neatherlands were around from 1614 to 1667 and you guys settled parts of of New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Connecticut, with small outposts in Pennsylavania and Rhode Island. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Netherland

Apparently, it'd mess up the US for a while, as it wouldn't be connected or something. In my favourite science magazine, they have a new part with a "What if?" theme, and this was the first subject, I should read that again.
Well that is true I think it would come down to the idea of if the Dutch could take control of what was the 13 British conlonies. Which in really History Great Britian was two powereful for that, but if you guys did managed that who knows if there would of been an American Revolution.
At least the Dutch would've been able to put up more of a resistance against the British. However, I think that if the British wouldn't have taken the Dutch colonial possessions, relations would've been a lot better, and maybe even good. That would've meant the Dutch wouldn't have supplied the US revolutionaries. While that in and of itself wouldn't be such a major problem, as the French and Spanish would still back the revolutionaries, strong Dutch presence on British side in the war could've been bad for the US, although the French could've attacked the Dutch on land and most likely would've wiped the floor with them. Whether the Dutch could've, or even would've taken the British holdings, well, I really doubt that. I assume they'd have neither the possibility nor the desire to do so. If anything they'd have attacked the British for dominance in India, but in the end, that would've failed, and in case of a war, the British would probably have ended up taking Indonesia, which would've been a massive blow to the Dutch.

Nor did I, really. The French really did most of the supplying, but the French, Spanish and Dutch all had interest in containing the British as much as possible, and all three threatened with invasions of the British isles.
Well yes but all three helped the US become a country and I'm thankful for that what ever their real motives were.
To be honest I don't know why I have nothing aganist the French and I have talked to people from France and they seemed like very nice people. Also are two counties histories have been intertwined since the American Revolution and we have always been allies. (other than that little war in the 1790's)
All i can say about the Dutch is that they are freaking epic. In 2008 the european football championship was in Switzerland/Austria, and the dutch played in Bern. 150000 Dutch fans invaded Bern (population of 130000) at their first game. National television talked about the "dutch invasion of bern" the party after the match was so epic and totaly peacful that 10000s swiss stormed the shops the next days, all dutch trikots where sold out, so people bought random orange shirts just to be part of it. At the time the second match of the dutch was held there where 500000 people dressed in orange in Bern. They even held a freaking parade in the city of Basel at the quarter finals. So all i can say is the dutch football fans are fucking epic
