George Patton too? He really didn't do that much. He shouldn't be in any list without Adolf Hitler, other than 'least memorable military leaders of all time'.

Anyone think that modern military leaders are very bland and boring?

He's speed, determination, he's master tactics. And he was a logistic genius, puts him on the list for me.

Yeah true. But then again I could name few military geniuses of 21st century. They just don't get the media coverage. It would be cool somebody like Patton came up in Afghanistan :D

He wasn't bad, but he only saved a few people, not a lot. There are leaders who saved much more people.

Nope. Afghanistan has guerrilla warfare, and someone like Patton only works in fast, decisive battles. Afghanistan isn't like that at all.

Yeah so true :D but I think if rommel and Montgomery teamed up they would have a chance

Since when did saving people measure a good general

I meant somebody that had the same personality as Patton.

    Saving people?
That isn't the primary function of a military. Quite the opposite as a matter of fact.

You get my point. And for the rest... It was an average leader when it comes to the offensive.

Montgomery might have been the most overrated general ever.

Perhaps, but I think that award is more suited to um... Admiral nelson? He never had to use his brain to win a battle.french won the battles for nelson with their stupidest.

Nah I still think Montgomery was a little more overrated. I was watching A Bridge Too Far about Operation Market Garden and one of the German generals when deciding where to place his tank units said " The attack will come from where Patton is. Not even Eisenhower is stupid enough to let Montgomery take control." I lol'ed.
