I would go with the GE. I hate how the Imperium has ships that stretch for miles and guns that blow up planets in 2 seconds and yet they are still fighting the orks.

The GE lost to a bunch of guys with armed stuff that was quite literally stone age. Yeah, the Ewoks.

I still don't get how the Imperium can fund all of their wars. They have a lot of planets, but they need to fund all the labourers, the manufacturers, the soldiers, and create and maintain all of their military. And by the looks of it, they need to have a shit ton of money to fund all of it's military. Unless every single person in the imperium is brainwashed to do anything for the emperor regardless of pay or survival, then I can't see how the Imperium would survive financially.

    I agree.

And the Empire was not defeated by the Ewoks.

A small contingent of ambushed Stormtroopers were defeated by a vastly larger force of both ewoks with traps built around the encampment, and rebel troopers, who were also in the fighting, but everyone fails to mention.

the worlds themselfs are the ones that produce there own currency (mostly called thrones) and alot of imperium labor is penal, slave, or servitor. and many workers in hive worlds work for food or shelter alone; and yes people of the imperium are in an almost cult like religion based on the emperor. if they were told to die for the emperor many would just based on that fact.

I still don't believe that the Imperium can hold itself financially. Slave labor can provide a cheaper way of getting resources, but who owns these slaves, are they paid highly. And these slave owners basically own the means of production, they can just demand more pay from the imperium and they have to comply because they are basically running their war machine. And other basic human things like revolt and rebellion and pay can be drastic upon their economy. I don't know how the emperor and his cronies run their government, but it must require a lot of money and a lot of security to make sure nobody rebels across thousands of planets.

This is mainly based off of assumption.

I would assume thousands if they can get all of the metal required to build all of their armor and ships. A retribution class battleship looks like it requires 3 Earths worth of metals to build.

Super Star Destroyer is up to 15....

the current count of worlds in the imperium has always been stated as "millions" so thats anywhere from 1 million to many millions.

the SSD's used by the empire in it's prime never amounted to more then 80 or so, most likely less then that. while the imperial navy has hundreds of battleship class ships, as do the support fleets for the space marines, and the inquisition.

fear mostly, there are revolts and rebellions but the imperium doesn't care if a world over throws a leader so as long that men and arms the planet give get to where the imperium needs, if they don't then they are destroyed in one way or another.

Based on how many planets they control, it must be really difficult trying to control the planets, make sure that there is enough security if the planet goes rogue, and fight every war they are in and not have an economy that is in the shambles.

every world in the imperium has a PDF force to help to rebellions. some imperial worlds can for for life times without contact from the imperium. if a world goes rogue so what? they can't spread since comms and navy are under imperium control and PDF's are troops just there to hold the line until the better armed and trained IG get there. so the imperium can really just wait out a world if they want blockading it for all time if that would work. in a sea of millions of worlds a single planet can do very little.

Unless it was a core world, then there would be problems. I change my view on this. I now think that you can't compare the two because the Imperium was designed to be OP and the GE is OP, but was designed to lose.

The Imperial fleet and army are vastly bigger then the Imperium. It's a fact. We have more people, more ships, better generals, etc. etc.

The war would be brutal... But..... We would win out.
