I don't know why politics as normal is so funny to you non Americans. I'm sure you're candidates are preordained and ascend from the heavens to rule over you and there's no other candidates they have to run against or anything...

OT on vote splitting. I'm not often wrong about these things, but I truly believed that the length of the democratic primary in 08 was going to split the democratic vote enough to hand McCain an easy win. That obviously didn't happen but it's make me very cautious about saying that the vote splitting affect is real. You look at the past history of close primaries, and almost none of them have you seen a significant affect on the final election results. Republicans are especially notorious for voting in house even after lengthy and bloody primaries (see McCain v Bush in 2000). Let's also not forget that Hillary actually won the popular vote in the democratic primary, only to have Obama win the general election in a landslide. If anything I'm beginning to believe it just mobilizes your base because you have voters thinking about politics for a year rather then only the few months leading up to the election.

It's kind of the "Oh look how much they suck!" to distract us from the current situation in Europe.(and in general)

I would. I honestly think he is going to run for reelection in 2014 and win. He has plenty of time to repair his image in Texas. As for a 2016 campaign I think it all depends on if he recovers from this years campaign.

He won't. He'll most likely be reelected Governor though.

I believe it all depends on how he explains his loss. If he says he lost for being too Conservative he'll get eaten alive, but if he comes back shruggs his shoulders and says "aw, I tried" he'll get enough support back.

What you two fail to realize is his opposition is none-existent down here.

While I respect Gingrich as an author (I absolutely love his alternate history books), him actually in control of the US is a disaster! Except he is a treehugger, so thats his only plus.

Vassilli1942-He Won by about 2000 votes Fox reports Gingrich 37% to Romney 32%

Slydessertfox-He is the projected winner. It is pretty much safe to say he has won.

....How is it racist. All of the candidates are the same race, even Herman Cain is white in this election.

No they say it's because all the candidates and the voters like to use the race card.
