Some people like them because they attack big corporations, and people like to see big corporations getting their ass handed especially in these times. Yes, they do cause great inconvenience, but IMO some people think it's worth that.

Besides most people claiming to be the actually anonymous are not really the "real" anonymous, an example of this would be during the startfor hacking an anonymous userbase did hack them, however statements from actually anon officials have said that they do not support the hacking of stratfor.

Pretty much everyone is anonymous without actually being anonymous while being anonymous.

    Fuck that is confusing.

That means you are anonymous but not Anonymous.

So far confusing if you ask me, although this has got to be a pretty big advantage to the real anonymous.

How was is a wrongful shutdown? Did you read the indictment I posted here or in the other thread? They made $175 million dollars off the illegal distribution of copyrighted material...

Also how have you been? Haven't seen you around much lately.

Edit: Here's a video that does a good job of describing the situation

Back from the grave!, well ISP problems.

And I describe it wrongful because of the politics involved, and also think of it as a SOPA scandal.

What in your mind are the politics involved? To me while this falls under the general term of copyright law, that doesn't make it about SOPA. MEGA was prosecuted under the Digital Millenium Copy-write Act (DMCA) not SOPA, so you could just as easily say that SOPA is just an extension of DMCA and not the other way arround.

Why did Anonymous just hacked all those sites as a response?
It won't help the internet community by punching them in the face with these hacks.

If you want to defend a site like Megaupload do it by responding in a letter or e-mail, giving good reasons why there should be a Megaupload but not like attacking someone's buisness with hacking them that will piss off the corporations and the government

Yes, but the government had a reason to shut Megaupload down. Anonymous is just being a dick.

But it gets a message across, and besides most corporations and governments would have e-mail sent directly to the trash bin.

It's similar to rioting an looting at a protest. It get's a wrong message across. Activism is ok as long as it doesn't cross legal borders. Also who are those people trying to undermine the democrtic process?

Yes. There was a reason to shut MegaUpload down. But, the government chose to do it now right after SOPA was sent back to the drawing board to make its people see the government still has power in the internet. And the government could have shut down Pirate Bay or something else instead, but they shut down a site with many innocent users.

They couldn't shut down pirate bay  because pirate bay does not have servers in the US.

While I disagree with Anonymous on virtually anything they do, and MegaUpload wasn't shut down because of nothing, this small article was still quite interesting.
