They violate a shitload of human rights and other laws.

Because the UN is the most incompetent piece of shit ever.
Takes FOREVER to intervene when a nation is bathing itself in blood, think Sri Lanka. And when it does, its soldiers end up committing rape, prostitution, getting AIDs, ransacking village.

Ya it was a bit of an exaggeration. But the UN interventions in West Africa had a ton of that kind of stuff.

I wont find a link though. Too much work. So you can take what I'm saying with a grain of salt if you like. I don't feel very strongly about the UN either way.

Actually the forces they send are mostly peacekeepers, that would mean: Only fire if fired upon and always stay defensive.

The only reason the UN is/seems incompetent is because the members of the security council vetoes anything useful in an attempt to block their supposed enemies(US+FRA+UK vs. Russia vs. China)
Libya is a good example of how the UN should work.

Libya was a bad example they wen't against the sovereignty of another country, aided a side in a civil war instead of doing the main humanitarian mission, the U.N overstepped there bounds in Libya by a mile.
