Well if people are afraid of getting robbed they sell electronic guns now that mimic real ones just buy one of those.
Well you shoot it and it can scare way any wannabe burglars because they would think you have a real gun.
In America if a gun is fake then it has to have an orange tip on it, if you waive an orange tipped gun at someone they'll laugh at you. And if you shoot a gun, and all it does is make a sound, then it would fairly obvious that it's not real. Especially to a criminal.
Nah you don't get it. When you shoot a gun, it does more than go bang, it kicks back, it flashes, it releases smoke, and it would just be too obvious if it was fake.
It would appear unnatural. That coupled with the orange tip would just be way too obvious. Also, I don't think pulling a gun, let alone a fake one, out on another man with a gun who is attempting to rob you is the best idea.
If they don't have orange tips then they're illegal. Spray painting it would also be illegal. And in a world where guns are illegal so you have to resort to using fake guns which also turn out to be illegal, why not just get a real gun if they're both illegal anyway? I think you should see how ridiculous this is becoming.
It doesn't matter, you're still breaking the law. And over an unreliable "defense" product, when you could just use a gun. You know, something that actually has an effect. Something that would prove useful when the other guy has one too. Criminals will always use guns. Because criminals don't abide by the law. The only thing criminalizing gun ownership would accomplish is taking guns out of the hands law abiding citizens, while they would remain in criminals hands. I'm not putting my faith in a toy gun to defend myself.
I'm with The Shaw on this. Toy guns are in no way an affective counter to any kind of intruder. The idea that you can scare them off with a toy gun is confined mostly to movies like Home Alone and the extremely rare instance in which a child succeeds in scaring away the intruders. Otherwise, you are just liable to make them angry and get yourself hurt. The tips are painted orange for a reason: so that law enforcement knows that they are fake. This means that if you spray paint them to any other color, then you are in violation of the law. If you don't spray paint them, then the intruders will 99/100 know that it is fake. On the other hand, while I have yet to hear of a precident thus far, I am sure that the courts would make an exception if you did the painting when the intruders were present in the home and that you had no other acceptable course of action. Either way, a toy gun usually fails to live up to a real one. One reason for this is that even the toymakers have to draw a strict line between the fake one and the real ones, orange tip or not. Not to mention that, if the intruders percieve you as a threat, they may just shoot back. Then what do you do with your fake gun? Wait until they run out of ammo?
I agree completely. There was a recent case in my area of cops shooting a kid because he had spray painted a toy to look real. Thinking it was real, when he pointed it at them they shot him. The idea of using fake weaponry is a good way of getting yourself hurt. Back on topic, I've only been shooting once. I only used a small shotgun on some clay pigeons, but it was pretty fun. Just be responsible and safe.
Meh, so has everybody. The first gun I shot when I was 12, it was a semi-automatic AK-47. Then of course a 22. rifle and a 20-gauge shotgun. Also I once shot a muzzle loading rifle that was pretty high caliber, but I can't remember what caliber. Kicked like a bitch. Also, a 12-gauge double-barreled. Not a whole lot, but I think i's fun as shit. Having a family full of rednecks has it's benefits.
