I remember that, you do the final in the middle of the year. When I was in 11th grade after the final all we did was read for the rest to the school year. For example Macbeth which we only finished on the last day of school.
Yeah, luckily they recently dumbed down the regents tests a bunch, they used to be pretty bad apparently, but this year is the first they did it where you only have to right one critical lens essay, and then two short response paragraphs, as well as the mc questions. I thought it was pretty anticlimactic compared to all the essays they made us right throughout high school. But apparently it used to be worse.
All the books I read were written 50 years ago. Or adult fiction. I want to say The Girl That Kicked the Hornet's Nest but that's not going to fly.
I hear ya man. Apparently they think that lower quality books will appeal to a wider audience. Shit pisses me off. I feel like most contemporary young adult novels are either for chicks, or stupid people.
NO!!! The hunger games are terrible. 1 It's written in first person present tense, making it a pain in the ass to read. 2 The last book was a total rip off. The Auther: "Ooooh I'm gona put the entire first book as a flahback in the third book so i only have to write 100 pages about what is going on currently" 3 And a wtf ending.
I hesitantly recommend American Gods by Neil Gaiman. It has some plot holes that I take issue with. Truancy by Isamu Fukui is pretty good too.
