I said to stay out of poverty. I know many people need unemployment benefits, but not necesarily to stay out of poverty.

Generally when you don't have a job and thus a source of income, poverty is where you go. Although If you do happen to have some ingenious method of magically materializing wealth out of nothing I'm all ears.

I think what sly was referring to was the immediate necessity of unemployment benefits. I do, however, disagree with him.

Anyway, lots of people take advantage of the system, whether it is to make millions of dollars from little work, or to maintain a living and party until your brain explodes from welfare money.

People take advantage of the system, no fucking way they would never do that.

Don't know if you guys knew this, but living off an unemployment pension isn't exactly luxurious. I know that in Aus, Even with a household of one, you'd be eating ramen noodles every day, no internet access, and a tiny run down shack is pretty much the norm for those on it. And I also know that in the US, the pension both pays out much less, and is much harder to get.

The fact is, quality of life for those on the pension is horrible, and you cannot survive as a healthy person on it. What I mean to say here is that nobody in their right mind would want to live off of pension. There may possibly be people who do bum off the system - But these people are an Absolute minority.

You tried to make a point that you can abuse the unemployment system by collecting their check while not looking for a job. Kinda hard since you have to be counted as unemployed, which involves actively looking for work, to recive unemployment benefits.

Well, there are other ways to take advantage of the system.
