    Up until roughly the 1960's the South was known as the Solid South for nearly always voting Democratic.

    A North/South shift of the parties, Dems being prominently in the North and Republicans in the South. That and the South finally got over losing the Civil War. Georgia voted Democrat for a century.

    People just flip flopped. Look it up if you are interested.

    On a side note Thomas Jefferson would be appalled by the Democratic party that he started as it stands today.

    And the party of Lincoln and Teddy is considering voting for a guy that compares gay sex to man on dog relations. Or a guy who thinks corporations are legally people. Hindsight's a bitch.
