    Karma.
However, I'd like to get rid of the monarchy, but this is a bit far going.

I personally don't really care about it but I kinda like the idea of having a monarchy. Just make it ceremonial or something like that.

I like monarchies, i don't understand why Europe wants to get rid of them so much.

It's useless and it costs millions. If I would get hit by an avalanche, the first to notice would be one of my parents a few hours later, and they'd have to get me out by foot. A prince (who isn't even officially a prince anymore) gets hit, and they suddenly have a helicopter to move his brother over. These people live like millionaires, but all they do for it is being here. Why should we give millions of tax to people who did nothing but getting born in the right place?

I agree the attention they get for being born into a historic, important family is unfair but they are not really rules anymore bit more of being celebrities for doing jack shit.

I beg to differ as Royalty=Prestiege=Tourists=Profit. For example Do you know the expences of the British royal family/year?
40Mill Pounds aaaand do you know how much money Britain gets yearly from tourists? 7000 MILLION Pounds.
Of course they will get attention and privliges but just becouse they are just like a black hole to suck tourists to the country.

I don't really know about how much money the rest of the left monarchs in europe make from tourists.

And yet another American has criticized the Netherlands. This time it is Rick Santorum, he's republican, he's running for president, he criticized the Netherlands' euthanasia policy, and he backed it up with false facts!

Santorum as well. If I'm correct, he thinks abortion should always be illegal, forgetting the fact that his wife had one.

Because they don't do anything an elected president couldn't do. And for those who claim the royals are a tourist magnet, the figures can never be anything more than speculation; I'm sure everyone won't stop coming to Europe if we suddenly decide to go all French Revolution on their asses.
What is known however, is that economists listed the Royal Wedding in the UK as one of the main reasons they are on the brink of recession again.

Yes, but that was the work of their ancestors, who then went on to produce selfish, spoilt fuckwits who sponged off their parent's fame and fortune.
    A bit like Paris Hilton.

10 percent of all deaths in the Netherlands are euthanized? That's about 2 percent in reality.
Can't bring up a better real life royalty example than the story of George IV of the UK.

The reason you'd want to go to a country isn't because of the head of state, it's because you like the country. And 40 million pounds is... err... quite a lot.

Hahaha. Are you sure his name isn't Rick O'Reily?

You must have forgotten that the countries aren't dictatorships any longer? It happened a few years ago.

Not as much as 700 million, and yea one of the major atttractions the uk has is the royal family. Just look at what a big deal americans made out of the royal wedding.

Okay then compare that with the 7000 Million tourists give them to go to the sights the monarchs own.

So you say the main reason you'd want to visit a country for is for a house in which a few people, which you have never met or spoke to, live? You say that would multiply the amount of money spent on it by 17.5? I think the main reason the monarchies still exist is for pure nationalism, and that's another reason why I want it gone. Nationalism blinds the ability to think rationally.

Hugh Laurie was the best George IV, although he played him when he was still Prince George.

Isn't Horrible Histories made by the same people who wrote the Waanzinnig om te Weten series?
