How nice. Too bad he wont be able to do anything. Aside from the fact that the Legislative body of France will probably be incredibly uncooperative, France's economy is in no state for anything like radical social change or otherwise.

Also, I feel like your just shooting in the dark here. It would be like someone saying, "America may get a Libertarian President!" because Ron Paul is doing decent in the Caucus.

I don't think Sarkozy is going to win this, nearly all the polls have him losing to his socialist opponent Hollande by a fairly wide margin. Not that the French socialist party is socialist any more that spot as been taken over by the New Anticapitalist Party. I would have rather Strauss-Khan been the socialist candidate but Hollande is ok.

Che will now be the new leader of France, his first act is stating Gaddafi's dead body as head of Libya.

I don't know. Anyone is better than the sitting president I guess. The man means more than the party, so I'm down with this guy at the moment. I need to learn more thought.

I need more information on the person to say.
The political arenas are much more complicated than just declaring that you are part of a political ideology.
I need to know EXACTLY how he means to impliment his ideology.

I quite like Sarkozy for some reason. Maybe it's just 'cos we have the same first name, but I think he's been a fairly safe choice for France, more or less. I mean, Chirac was an absolute wanker in comparison. Plus, i'm sure most of you Yankees will agree that France is socialist enough as it is. Except for that lefty agitator Kalalification, nothing's socialist enough for him, I mean he's always whining about how 'grr, that isn't socialism' and that the Paris Commune should come back and that the mods are corrupt and should be overthrown.

I doubt Sarkozy is gonna win. He had a 80% approval rating when he first got in, and it's gone down to around 30% compared to socialists rivals 50%

I saw the "Patriot Partys" spokesperson and right seems desperate in France.

Hollande is not really socialist so far he plans to tax and spend more. The socialist party became social democrat ever since Mitterrand became president.
Sarkozy is a bit of a firecracker and Hollande's more stable demeanor might be better for relations in the euro zone. Although Hollande might try to block a balanced budget amendment that Sarkozy is trying to get passed.

While helpful and I thank you for that, it doesn't encompass the entirety of the information that I would need to make a decision.

French election season really hasn't started yet. Sarkozy only recently announced that he was running so finding their finer points are going to be a bit difficult.

Sadly, there is an almost infinite depth of information that is not complied on single sites or small group of sites. Par example, it is all well to know that alot of Californians are on the lefter side of the political spectrum and would probably follow Obama than one of the Republican canidates. On the other hand, it is entirely different to understand the nitty gritty opinions of the people and the single subjects that could swing their vote to the other side. I'm not saying that it is not there - just that it is far simpler for me to ask the input of those here on the forum, which may or may not overlap the considerable amount I already know, and cobble together a rough image of what is the French view of this individual and their positions on topics and try to predict what his chances for success are.
Basically, I would need to have an understanding of how the French politcal arena works and what the people think to know what will happen when this guy runs.
On top of all of that, I need to know what this guy thinks, which is difficult as the information may not yet be published and I will have to sift through bias in sources to reach the truth. Take note fo MayorEmanuels' post above this one.
    Understood.
