As a citizen of the United States, I have witnessed our political system for several years now. I am a tad disappointed by our system. We are a nation of the people for the Lobbiest (might have misspelled that) with the most money. Our two party system (the smaller parties have little or no power lets be serious here there is never going to be a socialist president anytime soon sorry Stalin <3) is so backwards that only the most extreme left to right get any attention. I personally lean towards the left, but that doesn't mean I am going around aborting babies everywhere and constantly smoking illegal drugs. I also feel that its time for some new people get into our politics. But that doesn't mean I want to see my high school class to take office. This is not a simple issue and I would love to hear some opinions.

P.S. Sorry I kinda rambled on this

P.P.S If this is repetitive my bad :(

American politics are not dumb. They are actually very complicated. You can jump on the whiny bandwagon and complain about the status quo, or you can suggest something that would actually change the system. The only thing more annoying than someone whining about how things are without bothering to give an alternative are communists.

Because pointing out a problem never helps. Classic Kali. And OP, I agree with you. We have a de facto two party system in the UK and it sucks.

I think that we're about on par with the rest of the industrialized world in terms of stupidity. Pick any country and I'll see how stupid I can make it look.

Well hey at least the communist actually give an alternative, it might not be in your view points the right alternative. But hey better then doing nothing all day and eating chips going "the economy sucks bro, why doesn't like Obama do anything" Though as of right now the status quo may need some tweaking (suck as less lobbyist or the destruction of the electoral collage or even a multi-party system) but it seem to be doing its job and radical reform of it, is not required.

Speaking of the status quo, what exactly does your sign mean, I assume the state of moving forward?

    Edit: @ Mayor--- Monaco.

New people get in the American political system all the time. We always have candidates that don't follow the two party system. Just because they aren't popular doesn't mean our system is dumb, it just means people don't like that person. The reason there isn't a Socialist President is because people don't want a Socialist President. Yes some things influence their decisions, but ultimately it comes down to them not wanting that person. We have far left and far right that parties that always send up candidates, the Green Party and the Tea Party.

    Edit:Welcome to the forums!

Here's something. You can basically look up any country+police state and get a slew of nasty policies.
I'll wait a few years for it to be reintegrated into France and there is the whole cop for every 100 people thing too.

The only thing "dumb" about our politics is our political spectrum, where "right" means Authoritarian and "left" means socialist, where progressivism has been renamed liberalism and a liberal is a conservative who also has to be socially backwards. The least we could do is use a spectrum that isn't linear and fantastically nonsensical.

Its pretty much why I have given up explaining to people about classical Liberalism or conservative does not mean evil fascist.

Or trying to explain to somebody how American liberals hold very authoritarian economic views, and that authoritarianism doesn't necessarily mean dictator. Or how Liberal is not the opposite of conservative. People don't understand politics anymore.

Pretty much we just changed words and definition to suit are needs, someone says he is a liberal then he is obviously a communist. Someone says they are a libertarian then they are for anarchy. Someone says they are independent well then they are radical nazis.
