For the record, there are rules about derailing threads; they just are not enforced and for good reason.
    1) Our active community is so small that, if people are in agreement, the thread becomes useless. That we are so few in number raises the chance.
    2) You may not like it, but sometimes, derailing is actually a good thing. In conversations that are derailed, there is usually people going off on a tangent once the oringinal conversation is completed or a part is realized to be missing in the OP. It shows that people have the ability to look at the issue from multiple angles or that we have enough diversity on the forums for input from different angles.
    3) If the topic is not strong enough to remain on-track, it just means that those who posted found no interest in it to begin with or they lost interest or they found something else to talk about.

If something gets too off topic and interferes with an initial discussion, myself or another mod will typically split the thread.

That's not accusations, that's a tad bit racist. And it shouldn't be taken lightly.

It's the internet, I still don't get why people get so worked up over such claims.

Well, I for one would not like to be called a Nazi or Hitlerite just for the fact that I have German and Austrian heritage, regardless of where it is said.

If someone calls you a Nazi for having a German or Austrian heritage, that says more about them than about you.

Exactly, that says that they are a racist prick and should not be speaking of which they have little to no knowledge of.

Then why would you get upset, though? A ridiculous claim like basing all of your opinions on someone for the single and sole reason of you being born on a different/certain piece of land only shows they have the mental capacity and intelligence of a fish finger. They're clearly not worthy of your attention anyway.

My culture, my family history is stained forever because of events in Europe in the early 1900's, perhaps that's why I would be angry at that. It hurts, I would like to discuss these things, but without being called one myself, without having others' arrogance in the way of it. I'd rather it not be public now because of it. There are too much "trolls" in North America, far too much to ever have a decent conversation or discussion about anything.

Who cares what your family did, or who they were? If some of your dead relatives were either incredibly successful or evil or something, it has absolutely nothing to do with who you are. I don't get why anyone cares about dead family members they never knew about in the first place.
