America has been the world power for quite a long time now. China is growing more powerful and already has a very large army. I've heard that they are close or at the point where they can support their navy at sea. This would allow them to at the same level as the American navy.

    BULLSHIT!

China's navy is pretty shit and the US navy would stop them before they got near Hawaii. If they somehow got extremely lucky and were not sighted off many US bases in the pacific, Japan, and they landed in California it would take forever to reinforce and supply them. And Russia, Japan, India, England, and Austrilla would proably invade them. And again the US would proably bomb the shit out of with from the Pacfific.

We have the largest carrier fleet and the only supercarriers, China was trying to rebuild an old soviet carrier recently. We would destroy them.

Even if they got all the boats in china and didnt met any reisitance from the US navy and they made a landing in California it would take them years to get half the army over there.

    Your question is so vague.
Are you asking who would win in a particular part of the battle or theather or what?

Either way, no side could 'win' the war.
The Chinese lack the capablity to reach the US, even if they could somehow sink the US fleets, destroy the US bases between them, and destroy the US' allies.

The US can destroy much of China, but they would ultimately have to sign a peace treaty. The sheer number of Chinese dead from the inevitable US bombing of Chinese cities would eventually turn the world and public sentiment against continuing the war, even if the Chinese keep fighting.

Either way, the question has already been covered on this site numerous time [mostly between me and Kali] and the answer has never changed. The last time we covered it in detail was with the new Chinese carrier that came out and that has not changed anything much measurable in the conflict. Nor has anything come out on either sides since then that would even warrent continuing the discussion.

If the US actually tried to go for the jugular and kill every last Chinese, down to the last man, woman, and child, then the Chinese would see the world burn in nuclear fire. That is, if the US had the gut to try something like genocide. I have a feeling, from his comments, that ONE GUY IN PARTICULAR on this site would probably try to drive the US to that and get booted to the ICC for war crimes.

So yes, in a sense, the US would win the war. In a sense. History has shown that even the 'vicors' have regrets.

Yeah this isn't really a question worth discussing. The American Navy is so superior to its Chinese counterpart, the Chinese wouldn't even be able to get fishing boats out. Then we would bomb them to hell from Taiwan, Japan, and South Korea. The Chinese economy would be in tatters.

You just quoted me twice in one post.

And I already answered your question.

I really doubt that Taiwan, Japan, or S. Korea would be the ones doing the bombings.
The Chinese are not the most technologically armed, but they can easily level those places within 1-5 hours of war being declared. No world power - not the US, not Russia, not China - can stop all those missles. Or even one ICBM for that matter.
The US would be the one doing the fighting, not the Taiwanese or the Japanese or the South Koreans.

And recall that China is the US's third largest trade partner. The US economy wouldn't be looking too good either, if war occurred.
For that matter, neither would a number of world economies.

I didn't mean that those countries would be bombing them, just that the US would be using those air bases, though now that I think about it, that would probably be tantamount to war to the Chinese. The US economy would be in a terrible depression, but the Chinese will definitely get the worst of it since it's their country being bombed, not ours.

And either way it will be decades before they catch up.
Unless they develop better tactical missiles with the range of ICBMs of course. Like the one they just got, but without the ICBM label.
The new anti-carrier missile that they have would actually be suicide to launch. The missile registers on sensors as a mini-ICBM. Basically, if they launched it, there is a good chance that the US could mistaken it for a real ICBM and start firing nuclear missiles and then the MAD system could kick in.
Hardly worth the trouble to sink 11 lousy carriers unless there are no alternatives, methinks.

India may move in, but the others lack the capacity to make any substancial moves. Even the US lackes the capability to launch a land invasion of China. Corrupt government or not, the Chinese people would not stand to have foreigners have even one centimeter of Chinese land. Even India, who had their *** handed to them last time they went up against the Chinese, would probably only be able to overrun the poorly manned and supported bases in the fringe parts of the Tibet province. The Indians have even worse tech than the Chinese, though they get help from the US in developing stuff and buy stuff from the US and others. Their tactics rely on infantry en masse even more than the Chinese.

Depends on the situation the poll is shaky.

But in multiple times of history quantity (in time) will ALWAYS overcome quality.

Yea well not this time, the chinese could arm every person in their nation and it still would not help them, since they would not be able to get past the US navy.

I'm pretty sure Russia would side with China, and all Communist allies. That's more than enough to kamikaze all their ships to oblivion in my opinion.

You also have to count into fact that , they have some of the best hackers, they spy on people naval/troop movements, and much much more.

And plus that's why I said "In time"

China has way more people (the women's army has 3 million people in it, more than the entire US population), but the US is far more advanced. Our navy would quickly, and brutally, destroy the Chinese navy. the Chinese has just recently gotten their first aircraft carrier and its a soviet era Ukrainian carrier. maybe if China was quick they'd take one of our territories in the pacific, but we wouldn't let them get any farther. Also our air force is one of the strongest in the world. we could just sit off the coast and launch our bombers against them to level all their cities. but still, it'd likely never happen, at least not for a long time. we're China's biggest trade partner. their economy would be destroyed if they, or we, attacked. so, all in all, if we went to war then it'd be close, but we'd win.

Totally, I mean the Iraqis won the gulf war and fought off the American invasion in 03, and the Taliban were successful in fighting off a few hundred SF and cia operatives in 01 right? Or looking back in history the glorious French conquest of Spain under Napoleon, or of the Grande Armee's conquest or Russia, or America's successful defense of South Vietnam in the 60's, or Persia's conquest of the Greeks, twice (I guess they just left and reconquered them considering they invaded with overwhelming force the first time so they must have won...)

Also, you kind of assumed Russia was still communist in your next post. Been watching too much of Stalin's mw3 lp eh?
