    The correct answer is Luxemburg.

The United States Navy and Air Force is very superior to the Chinese. The Chinese have made great advancements in the past 40 years, but the US are still very far ahead in both areas. In terms of capability, the US Army is again superior to the Chinese man for man, but not to anywhere near the degree of the other forces.
However, the following stats more than even up the equation.
China's Manpower fit for military service:
    males age 16-49: 318,265,016
    females age 16-49: 300,323,611 (2010 est.)

US Manpower fit for military service:
    males age 16-49: 60,620,143
    females age 16-49: 59,401,941 (2010 est.)

The Chinese could muster an army six times as large as the US. That is nothing to be scoffed at. I also believe that China has vastly superior military manufacturing output. China has an order of magnitude more workers, who work harder and for longer hours than Americans.

There are some things that would greatly complicate this and alter the outcome. Even if we take military alliances out of this, there hasn't been a major war since modern globalization, and the supply of land and capital resources is more important than the supply of labour.

Blasphemy. The Swiss Guards at the Vatican city can defeat the US, China, Luxembourg and san Marino combined.

Russia is not communist, but they know when to jump on a opportunity to back an old ally, not considering Sin0-Soviet relations.

Neither, as an occupation of either country would be impossible. Both countries have very large, highly militarized cultures, with pride filled, ultra-nationalistic populations, much of both would die before seeing the opposites flag above their ground. Plus both of them have a lot of allies who also would be prepared to do the same. The only feasible end to such a war, in my mind would be either a ceasefire, or a nuclear exchange.

You don't need to occupy a country to win a war, which is why everyone in the thread is saying China would lose due to American bombing their cities to a fine powder.

I don't see China surrendering to the US. If they did, it would mean massive unrest in the country, and likely the government getting overthrown. Chinese culture is very prideful, nationalistic, and anti American - I believe there would be more people willing to fight to the death, than people who were in favor of a surrender. And similar words can be used to describe the US.

we said the Japanese would fight to the last man, woman, and child, but our bombing campaigns forced them to surrender. granted we used the atom bomb twice, but still I'm sure they would have surrendered eventually

Different situation. Japan was fighting a losing war, in which all of it's allies were destroyed, it's military all but wiped out, it's supplies of pretty much everything were gone, pretty much of it's industry and infrastructure were obliterated, and moral was constantly sinking. ()Pressed enter on mistake)

China is a large, resource filled and modern nation, with a massive industry, good military tech and the world's largest armies. Plus, it has tens of allies, most of which also have huge militaries, and very pridefilled/anti american cultures.

If they didn't surrender in that scenario then they risk their entire nation being destroyed. Then the government would be overthrown anyway due to their refusal to broker peace.

I edited a bit into my post.

"China is a large, resource filled and modern nation, with a massive industry, good military tech and the world's largest armies. Plus, it has tens of allies, most of which also have huge militaries, and very pridefilled/anti american cultures."

Remember that it is not just China you would be dealing with. You are dealing with a lot of countries, and cultures that would sooner see themselves obliterated than surrender to the US.

probably right. whatever would happen, both sides would lose tons of money, men, and natural resources. so i don't see this scenario playing out anytime soon

That would be an interesting alternate history war. Not sure where you pulled Einstein into that.

I'll be the last to admit to being an expert on Chinese foreign policy but I can't think of 10 nations that would commit to a war against the US for China. North Korea, Pakistan, maybe Afghanistan? Oh, and the mighty, civil war stricken nation of Syria.

That's the whole premise of Red Alert 3. Einstein has been eliminated.
