Okay because we've all ready had one person jump to conclusions and ignore this I figure I should give more of an explanation so I might save a few of you derpy lemmings from jumping off the cliff of ignorance.

www.kony2012.com is a site dedicated to making known the worlds most notorious and despicable war criminal. Through the 30 minute video above it explains the plan that by the end of 2012 YOU can help get Kony arrested , and maybe help save the lives of thousands of children in central Africa.

We've already discussed this. Obama signed an agreement to help 'disarm' the child soldiers in Uganda under Kony's leadership.

What is it with you and always coming off so contemptuous when anyone brings up a social movement? Anyways, the idea now is to "make Kony famous" in order to keep the public, and in turn the government, committed to the cause.

Hey I know we have murdered hundreds of millions of people, most of our consumer goods come from child slave labor and we regularly put into place, and back up genocidial dictatorships - BUT THERE IS THIS GUY CALLED KONY, AND HE IS A REAL BASTARD!

The fact is, we in the west are entirely responsible for this happening. And by staging a military intervention, which this 'Invisible children' movement is supporting, we are just going to make this shitstorm even worse - Just think about what happened every other time we did this. White man's burden, anybody?

I'm looking for proof or perhaps numbers of the effected but I'm just not seeing them in those links. While I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that man uneducated and ill disciplined soldiers probably are causing a lot of damage , comparing them to the LRA is a little bit extreme. While I'm certainly not giving any money to invisible children the main point of this video is to raise awareness to the world at large about what is happening in the region so that we might actually help. That is not evil.

As I've said before, I hate Kony - I hope he gets what he deserves. But Jingoism, and military intervention are no way to fix this problem. Every other time we have tried in this in the past, it just fucked things up worse.

Yeah maybe in the ideal universe full of butterflys and rainbows if you just let dangerous militants groups run around your country kidnapping your children then making them murder their parents and mutilate their friends it would just resolve itself with the all consuming power of love.

The entire reason this is happening right now is because of us taking military intervention, and attempting to 'Save them' back in the 1800's. More modern examples of this sort of mindset are Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Somalia. Any military intervention against the LRA is a bandaid solution, at best. To fix this problem militarily, it would take an invasion of the whole region, if not all of africa, and a redrawing of all of the borders to prevent this from happening again. No, letting it happen is not 'Right' - But nether is intervening militarily (Which will probably cost even more lives, in the long run). This is just one of those instances, in my opinion, where there is no right, or correct option.

I don't think there's a 'right' option I think there's a 'better' option. Oh and your not really using uneducated slavers and colonists from 200 years ago as your argument for why we can't intervene right.

This is more of a thing for the U.N. to do if they were useful in any way. It wouldn't even require that many men to make the difference in taking down the LRA it's not a particularly well trained or well armed movement.

I feel sick with myself arguing what I am. In the end, I don't believe what I am arguing here is right either - Merely that it is the better option. I don't consider anybody here who supports intervention to be wrong morally, or to not have good intentions.

Yeah. Like preppy yuppy Americans who wear scarfs are going to do anything about Kony. This video has failed to influence me, this has actually made me irritated. They're not going to "arrest" Kony. They're going to brutally murder him. Both sides have blood on their hands here. Those posters are using the completely wrong colors, they're blue and red, and ugly as fuck. I don't want my public areas covered in these ugly posters, you no good vigilantes and vandals.
