First off it is arguably one of the safest ways to produce energy as the only fatalities were from Chernobyl and even that is very low compared to fatalities of other energy industries that have at least five times more deaths each year.

Secondly it's not like we don't have place to put nuclear waste in. There's shit ton of waste land that we can store those things for ever. Besides my kids will be smarter than me and they'll know what to do. In fact they could recycle it for something.

So yes, benefits outweigh risks by far.

That's cool and all, but where are you going to get all the money? That shit is expensive and much less efficient.

Japan had been building their infrastructure to better withstand earthquake and aftershock. As long as they upgrade the facility to properly withstand shock, then they can run nuclear energy just fine.

I don't get why some people are so anti-nuclear. I mean basically all of our energy comes from nuclear power, because almost all of our energy comes from the sun, which basically is a giant nuclear fusion reactor.

Also I won a sort of debate series on our physics class, it was about sources of energy and I had nuclear power.
So the finale was me vs. my friend who had solar power (an uphill battle it was for me), we had like eight minutes to debate. In the end I was chosen as the winner by the teacher and my classmates and I'd say I won because of my aggressive tactic.
    EPIC WINNING !

In my friends English class they had to debate topics of "importance" for the upcoming election we are going to have here in the US. He was in the nuclear weapons debate and the stances of maintaining our arsenal and decreasing out arsenal were already taken so he had to argue for us to increase out arsenal size. It was not fun for him.

At least, let's hope our kids are smarter than us. Otherwise we're in trouble.

We're long gone before nuclear waste is our trouble

Would be a good idea, BUT if its not dump far enough it could damage our space ships and stations. Already space debris is a major threat.. And our ships are too small to carry large of amounts of it. making it non profitable

I don't know, but mine seems WAY more practical.

Still, it could eventually be a viable situation, flinging it into the sun, for example?

Bit far, but maybe in the future. Right now I don't think any intelligent nuclear plant owner would start building a space ship that can carry all the nuclear waste from one year use. When they could just dump them to a mountain

Or you can just launch shit into orbit, like a cannon. Alternatively you can just launch all shit in Africa...

I live in Africa, so that would be pretty shit...
    -EDIT-
Also, earth has too much shit orbiting around it already.

Launching it into space kinda renders the clean part of nuclear power useless, doesn't it?
