Wow, that is absolutely disgusting. They should be tried for murder and imprisoned for the same amount of time as if they had murdered that many US civilians.

I agree with Chelsea. Murder is murder.

Edit- And I hope this was an individual incident.

This is not a time not to stand up for the US Armed Forces. These acts must be condemned and the soldiers trialed for murder.

I completely agree. Yes it was isolated. MAYBE I would feel better, no thats the wrong way to put it. I might UNDERSTAND it more, if say, he did this because his siblings were killed and brutally mutilated by insurgents. But no, it looks like they just got drunk and decided to have some "fun". Absolutely disgusting. I can't remember where I saw this, but one article said that of 60 NATO deaths this year, around 18% of those were killed by members of the Afghan Army, which we created. Now I understand why. I am shocked and appalled.

EDIT: @Chelsea: In the US it wouldn't be imprisonment, this would probably invoke the death penalty in front of 99% of juries.

The Americans are notorious among the British military for blue-on-blue, and indeed there have been many incidents in which Americans have murdered friendlies. I wouldn't be surprised if the Afghan Army turned on the Americans, because I certainly would. Killing so many civilians and burning Qu'rans will only incite more violence. They should get out of Afghanistan and very quickly. Barbaric people.

I was talking to my dad (air force sergeant, so he knows how things work =P) and he said that this would probably help get us out of Afghanistan. He also said the Afghans would demand this guy be turned over, and we would never let that happen. Granted, the guys probably gonna spend the rest of his life at Fort Leavenworth, but we will never give him to the Afghans who would most likely behead the guy.

Would you rather spend good money for him to rot in jail, or would you rather just have him executed right then and there?

i think its intrersting that if an american soldier tortures sivilians to death they get a few months in prison
but if he deserts he could be executed.

They will get what they call in the military "double jeopardy". He will probably get a military court {forgot actual name} finding
that will judge whether or not he had a reason to fire. An i think he may get a civilian court that could investigate if he is sane or not.

Totally unrelated but me as someone planning on joining the armed forces this is despicable i can guarantee his saner friends
    will let him know...

P.S is my grammer getting better?

I would rather not have him executed far from home in a foreign country without a trial. He is obviously guilty, but he still deserves a fair trial.

    Court martials.
Scary that a guy going into the US military doesn't know about them.

So he gets life in prison. He probably actually has a mental condition because 90% of the time people who commit slaughters do (somehow I'm afraid people will read it as, "90% of people with mental conditions commit slaughters"). People die all the time, and it's not like tens of people dying is some extreme act. Hell, Americans shoot each other in that sort of number.

He'll rot for it, I don't see a problem here.

Somehow I find that fear to be founded upon ligitimate grounds.
People tend to think that schizophrenic = mass murderer. That simply isn't true.
According to research done, 1% of the population [1/100 people] are schizophrenic or experience it temporarily in their lives to varying degrees, but you don't see them all going around killing people, do you?
The perception that all schizophrenics are mass murderers is a media-produced belief. I would even bet that they have a tm for it.

    LOL.
The US public would never support a war that killed so many and neither would the Military Industrial Complex.
In a real war, the government would constantly have to be coming up with new, even more horrifying acts that the enemy is doing just to gather the minimum amount of support necessary to continue the war. When the pictures of the dead come back and the military sends home their sons and daughters in buckets, then the US public usually doesn't support the war anymore.

In the grand scheme of things the soldiers and civilians won't matter. But the events this will cause will of course matter.
