And him reoccupying the Rhineland went unopposed, nothing happened when he annexed Austria and Czechoslovakia, he rearmed and remobilized Germany, he actually became Chancellor, and his party wasn't put down after the Beer Hall Putsch, so yeah, pretty lucky.

Everyone keeps saying, "Oh the Czechs had such a strong military, so much stronger than Poland!" Guess what? The French had an even stronger military then both countries combined. France still fell less than a year after the war started, as did Norway, Denmark, Poland, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The Germans were on the ball then, and the French weren't. What makes you guys think it would be any different in a scenario such as this?
And actually, Hitler may have survived on luck before the war started, but once it did start there was no luck involved, just Germany's military prowess. In fact, it was luck that the UK survived, and luck that the Germans weren't prepared for winter in the Soviet Union. Lets admit it, Hitler's army was pretty badass.

It didn't matter about the military, but the fact that the there were fortifications in the mountains that protected Czechoslovakia. There was no Netherlands or Belgium to screw up Czechoslovakia. Also, the USSR was heavily favored to stopping German expansion, and were allied with Czechoslovakia, so there is that as well. If UK and France had also had some back bone and actually attacked, then Germany was screwed. Also, on all the countries you state (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Norway, Denmark), you do realize that they were all surprise attacks. Czechoslovakia and pretty much the entire world knew that Hitler would attack Czechoslovakia. And don't forget the German officers who plotted to arrest Hitler if he invaded Czechoslovakia.

They may not have had a Netherlands or Belgium to screw them up, but they instead had Slovakia. Which was extremely unloyal to the Czechs, to the point that when Hitler annexed Czechoslovakia in OTL, he set up a very loyal puppet government in Slovakia. In the event of a full scale German invasion, Slovakia would most likely have rebelled against the Czechs and Czechoslovakia would have been thrown into some sort of Civil War. Not to mention that the Czech army was full of these unloyal Slovaks, and therefore at the beginning of hostilities the Czechs most likely would have lost a significant number of troops to desertion.

You speak the truth, yet there are many other factors to consider, maybe the Slovaks don't rebel if Germany invades, and if they don't then Germans are screwed.

Yes. However, I believe the Slovaks had a history of rebelling (not sure though), and that they would have probably taken any chance they could to fuck with their Czech "oppressors" in the event of an invasion. Also, whos to say the British and French would even intervene in the case of a German invasion? They very nearly didn't intervene with Poland, and the Brits and Frenchies stood by while the Nazis annexed Czechoslovakia.

I never said that UK and France would intervene if Czechoslovakia was attacked. I said if they grew a backbone, which never happened.

If they did intervene and were smart about it, the siegfried line was a fucking joke at the itme and could have been easily penetrated.

There was a fundamental difference between the allies and Germany at this point. The Germans are very offensive minded, while the Allies are defensive minded. They thought there would be attrition and trench warfare again, and that's what they prepared for. There is an almost 0% chance they would commit to a serious attack on Germany. Not to mention, the UK had Chamberlain, while Germany had Hitler. I hardly think Chamberlain would have been a very charismatic and moral inspiring leader for the Allies.

Btw you were saying that all the allied victories and stuff were luck, well the fact that 1.) France and Britain were so lenient on Czechoslovakia, and 2.) They didnt just try and bash right through the Sigfreid line was EXTREMELY lucky for Hitler.

Even when Hitler invaded Poland, the Siegfried line was still a joke. Barely any troops there, and yet, despite a minor raid into Rhineland, nothing major happened. When Hitler invades Norway and Denmark, no reaction from UK or France. It is really sad to think how easy it was to 1) Prevent the war and 2) End it.

Well the funny thing about Norway was the allied troops were also invading it at the same time, and they stumbled upon each other. Norway was decisive though, because Hitler lost a lot of ships that he would badly need later on in the war.

The Allies weren't INVADING, they came in when the Germans invaded. Unfortunately, allied intelligence was terrible and the Allies had no idea where they were. So they just started stumbling around and got their asses kicked.

Poor Czechoslovakia. A successful country abandoned by Western Europe to be gobbled up by the fascists, and then afterwards gobbled up by the communists for another 40 years.

I'm moving to the Czech Republic in two days. Should be interesting!

France had barely any men left to fight after WW1 losses and they knew it which is why they spent much of their money on the Maginot line whch is why they were so keen on using it. and yes the siegfried line was a joke but is was just enough to keep the french from committing to a costly attack, which is what it was designed to do. Britain also had little manpower and as said before was very unprepared. the Soviets were caught in their own ambitions of a strong military and in the baltic states and Finland. and as General Mosh said much of the Czechs ranks were full of Slovaks which would cause many prolblems, like desertion and a disragard of orders. also much of the Sudetenland was flat farmland and could support tank maneuvers for a flank attack. plus the Germans now had control of Austrias mountain troops. there was really no way the czechs could win

France may have had less fighting men after WW1, however, the commanders of the German army understood what would happen if Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia: UK, France, and Russia would intervene to aid Czechoslovakia, and there would be about 5 active divisions to defend in the west. The German general in charge of the fortifications of the west stated that it couldn't hold if the French attacked. Also, the Sudetenland, which was ceded to Germany at Munich, actually contained a majority of the Czechs mountain defenses, and thereby left them defenseless. AND, there was a plot to overthrow Hitler if he attacked Czechoslovakia. Who knows what would have happened. If I remember correctly there was a leak in May 1938 of German plans to invade Czechoslovakia, which caused a mobilization of Czech forces and a unity between UK, France, and Russia against Hitler.

yes there is always the thing about the commanders and it was proven in 1944 that not all of them were 100% loyal to him. and yes the siegfried line was poorly manned but you have to take into account that the french had just poured their economy into those fortifications, they were not about to let them just sit and rot. and there is a large stretch of farm land from Dresden to Prague that could have been used to undermine the defences much like in the invasion of france. and if the french didnt attack during the invasion of poland i see no reason why they would here. and the Soviet Union and Germany were not connected so a large scale soviet invasion is impossible
