Yes I have but the thing is that Western civilization grew out of that era of savagery. This is something that can't be said of the majority of the Middle East and Africa.

Not only was the Muslim world one of the most progressive in the world in the Middle Ages (which, as you said, has deteriorated over time), today mostly fundamentalists make the news. Also, fundamentalist Christians, heck, ANY kind of fundamentalist or extremist is savage, no matter what religion.

This is true. I have more respect for the Moslems in that time period than I do the Christians. Today though the roles have reversed and what counts is how Moslem society is today.

Again, fundamentalists are everywhere. While I agree that some laws and practises in the Muslim world are downright barbaric, the West is hardly free from ignorance and religious violence either.

You know why Africa is in the shit right now and hasn't progressed? Western Imperialism and colonization. We fucked them over hardcore and we're the reason Africa is a hell hole right now with various warlords.

Japan was decimated after World war II and now they thrive. After both world wars Europe was in ruins but they moved on and rebuilt. I don't agree with colonialism but the fact remains that it's over and for years the west has attempted to help those countries rebuild. The Chinese were dominated by the Japanese but they recovered. You can't use colonialism as an excuse for a people who refuse to accept civilization and who refuse to help themselves. By the way Ethiopia was never colonized with the possible exception of Italy in WW2 but it remains one of the poorest nations on earth.

How can you compare wars and/or occupation that lasted a few years to centuries of oppression and slavery? Not to mention Europe and Japan got loads of financial support on top of already being developed or having resources and knowledge to profit from, while Africa has none of that.

You're really going to try and say that Africa dosn't receive massive amounts of foreign aid? My point is that nobody is to blame for the state of Africa but Africa. Every people is responsible for their own destiny.

Giving money and weapons to warlords isn't exactly the Marshall Plan for Africa, now is it? The foreign aid that is sent to Africa obviously isn't being spent very well, or we'd actually see some improvement.

It does receive foreign aid but that doesn't just magically fix the massive and long term damage we did and wont in the near future.

Colonialism is to blame for the state Africa is in.

Ok let's say colonization is the cause for all of Africa's problems. Whose fault was it that they were colonized? As I said in my last post, every people is responsible for it's own destiny. History like nature is about survival of the fittest. If a people are so inferior that they can't defend themselves nature would say that's how it should be. Before I'm called a hypocrite I do blame the American people for Americas decline. We have become lazy, apathetic and self hating and were getting what we deserve.

Colonialism alone is not to blame for the state of Africa, but it is a single biggest reason for it.

EDIT: And he lost me in his previous post

So, slavery and exploitation is all right, as long as the slaves are inferior human beings?

    I didn't expect otherwise.

Expect a fascist to say such disgusting things. People aren't inferior because they don't have guns and don't deserve many years of slavery and oppression that ruins the future of their continent.

He did not say it was acceptable, he said it was a "natures way".

I think there's an argument to be made for a inferior society or peoples (you have to take into account several factors, such as location...), but certainly not inferior as in humans.

"Yeah, I don't like him being my slave, and I would release him, but nature would want it this way."

    Does that sound about right?

It does, but you take into account only ones morality. How about society? Wouldn't industry take slaves to create profit? I think they would. One man would and could relase another, but that's not the case in large scale societies.
