Byzantine is used to describe a political enviroment where different political players are constantly schemeing for power. This comes from the real world byzantine empire where political plots and uprisings were very common. Draconian comes form an Athenian law maker Draco, who would use the harshest of punishments for the smallest of crimes.

As for the orignal post, I don't think living under matriarchy would be any better then a patriarchy. People are people and women are just as cruel and shortsighted as men. Let's just use a merit based system where the most skilled is the leader.

We have a woman as chancellor.... and she blows dick, literally!
    Just sayin.....

Nope.... the reforms of Drakon only included cases of murder (in three different forms), mostly to prevent bloodfeuds which were common at that time. He never formulated "harsh punishment for small crimes"... Thats just how we use "draconian" today....

And how many shitty male politicians are there out there? Hmm? A whole hell of a lot. It has nothing to do with gender and everything to do with views and ability.

I wouldn't risk it, even if it was an experiment.

A single father, however, would be a far better candidate.

I really don't have a dislike either way.
I will just take exception if they try to do things unreasonably bias - like killing men just for the sake of killing men because they don't like them. Basically, I don't like extremists.
Other than that, I don't see any reason to not have women leaders.

BUT I will point out a couple of things:
    1) It shouldn't really be a matter of 'fairness' since it would be entirely artificial and therefore would probably end badly.
    2) Men have a bad track record, yes, but that is partly because men have the majority of the record in the first place.

I don't see any particular reason to artificially propel women into a position of leadership - indeed, it would be a terrible idea - they should EARN IT. Our only responsibility is not to be bigots and judge them by what they offer, not by their gender.

This underlines a broader problem with Democratic society in general:
They are apt to choose their leaders by many bad criteria including but not limited to:
    1) Race [argue all you want, but I am certain that the so-called 'color vote' was instrumental in Obama's election]
    2) Gender *looks at Palin*
    3) Folly party politics - what is best for the country should be the deciding factor, not voting along party lines.

On a side note [since this is relevent], an associate of mine asked me to do a piece on progress in the status of women in society and I want to hear some recommendations for subjects.

If a woman wants to wrest me from power she'll have to kill me first.

....The only female in my election this year is/was Michelle Bachmann. No thank you kind sir, no thank you.

I have yet to see a female politician that outclasses the male ones. That doesn't mean they aren't there, but I haven't seen them for whatever reason. I don't mean to discriminate or anything, I just don't see a current female leader that is good.
