The history channel is still credible when they are actually talking about history.

Ancient Aliens and The Nostradamus Effect both are historically influenced, yet I can't take either show seriously. I mean, they're funny, but credible? Not so much.

True, but if you're going to name one of your sources, naming the History Channel doesn't cut it. I mean, I like some of their shows, but as for credibility...well, they're not the best.

Cool beans. While entertaining, the "proof" provided hardly makes sense, especially when you put all of it together and think for a few seconds.

I feel the history channel has moved away from just plan history (which they used to do), to more theory based (Ancient Aliens, The Nostradamus Effect) and reality (pawn stars, top gun) shows.

I think Pawn Stars is actually a good show for showcasing history. Many more people who don't enjoy watching documentaries and that stuff are learning about at least small parts of history, which they probably wouldn't have if there were no shows like Pawn Stars or American Pickers. I think overall, Pawn Stars and American Pickers is great to get more people interesting in history.

I only agree with parts of it. The whole ancient alien theory in general I agree with, but not with a lot of what the history channel showcases about it. Also, have you guys ever read chariots of the gods?

While watching these shows (once again including The Nostradamus Effect, as it still applies to it), I can't help but notice that while the theories are somewhat interesting and nicely thought out, even I could think of several points that contradict these theories, and can only be refuted by more and more far fetched thinking.

I agree with you on most of it. Again, I support the ancient alien theory (for the most part), just not what the history channel presents.

i agree, its not what it used to be.
10 years ago discovery channel used to be all about ww2 battles and the industrial revolution.
now its mostly shit like cash cab and that loging show.
but the mythbusters is still pretty good.

Larry The Cable Guy is a disgrace. He doesn't even belong on a FOX news reality TV show he's so despicable. How the hell did he get on the history channel?!?

The history channel is a joke now. All it is are conspiracy theories or rednecks doing a job like catfishing. Nothing historical about any of it. It used to be my favorite channel but now it's gone the way of TLC which instead of learning is about midgets and pregnant women.

History channel is good entertainment, but not only it is targeted at ordinary people, simplifying everything to appeal to them but it also feeds misleading information all the time. First thing is not a problem per say (other than that we wot get in depth commentary) but second one is unforgiving.
