I personally didn't like the movie but i was a HUGE fan of the books but when i watched the movie it just felt like they were rushing through the story because they were trying to fit it in the 2 hour time frame. But I feel that if they made the movie 3 hours instead of 2 hours the movie would of been so much better.

I loved it. It was faithful. It didn't cut out anything important. It is one of the few movies I can say I envisioned almost identically while reading the book.

It was really annoying at first, but after about 10-15 minutes I got use to it.

Except you can't tell what is going on. For example in the last fight scene I couldn't tell who was fighting who. The shaky camera definitely lessened my opinion of the movie and I hate the director now.

I went out to see this movie this past Saturday. I've never read the books.

Overall, I believe that they put a ton of money into a weak story. It literally felt like I've already heard this story before (reminds me most of Lord of the Flies, to be honest) and it was completely predictable. The acting was fine, the effects were great, but the story is crap. As I was watching this movie the thought that was going through my mind was "How is this so popular?" Also, the story felt rushed, especially near the end. It felt like important scenes that would have actually made the story stand out from the stories it's based on were cut for no good reason other than to prevent the movie from being three hours (it's actually 2:22). The action scenes were also sometimes hard to follow, but not really from the shaky camera, but from the constant cuts to other camera angles.

It's still worth watching and is a pretty decent movie, I just don't think it should be as big of a hit that it seems to be.

    Just my 2 cents.

Yeah I don't get the popularity. It was a good movie, but nothing special really. Also I like how they got these 12 "sectors" that they have to intimidate and they turn out to be like a little villages.

Well you do know there is a very popular series of books that caused the popularity right or did they not make it to Finland. They are also called Districts not sectors. Well that is just District 12, there is more of it but they are probably all small towns because they are the poorest district.

Still, it is kinda a giant plot-hole that a village of a couple of hundred can supply a city of, from what I can tell, millions.

They tell you how in the beginning of the first book.

The book explains the ending a lot better.

The books are an abomination to literature.
