Should I mention that apart from the more then 10 years on catholic school I also had to go to an actual church and have a priest teach me about religion for 4 years? Dude, I know what i'm talking about here.
The numbers in the Bible were probably guessed at or sensationalised anyway. Taking the same story as you gave, Moses didn't split the seas. What's more likely is that he and his followers managed to wade through a muddy area with low water levels, in which the Egyptian chariots couldn't follow them. But it'd be a hell of a lot more sensational to say he split the seas, so they wrote that down.
Indeed and also what is more awesome? Spliting a sea in half and walk through it or say you went through mud? They had to convince people to turn into christianism right.
Not exactly, most historical texts show signs of this kind of sensationalism. Especially ancient mythological stories. Pretty much.
That 'sensationalism' is fucking propaganda. Make it sound nice all you want people wanted others to believe in the same faith so they told crazy stories. Like spending 40 years in a desert we now know would take like 1% of that to cross.
That, or the people who wrote it were terrible at estimating how long it'd take to cross said desert.
But that wasn't written by Christians, I never said you didn't, I said religious curriculum probably changes from Diocese to Diocese. Yeah, no shit sherlock.
It's still in the bible. It's not like they are teaching them a totally different book in Brazil. They are teaching him about the Bible, just like they are teaching you about the Bible. This isn't some history class where each school teaches out of a different textbook. You are learning the same book. If the majority of the stuff in the bible is sensationalized propaganda, how can you take most of what it says seriously?
It seems like just about everyone has their own interpretation of what's said in it, though, that might've had something to do with it. As for most sensationalised stories, you have to look at the goal. Why is a story heavily sensationalised?
Never said it wasn't. We have textbooks for religion............ I don't......I look for RELGIOUS TRUTHS!
No, it doesn't. That is kind of the most commonly used question to religious people by atheists. My question to atheists: How did everything begin?
You cannot prove nor disprove God. I don't know, I believe. Now answer my question. BTW, that guy on the video is a complete idiot and sets a bad name for relgion.
