Don't know if something like this was created earlier but I couldn find it.

I'm curious about what everyone thinks god looks like/what he is. And for my fellow atheists; What does god look like if he exists? Is it a man in the clouds? A magic flying pancake? Something else?

I personally think that if god exists, it doesn't have a shape. It's a neutral power that doesn't have a plan but just makes things happen randomly.

In every holy scripture in its own words it says, we were made in there/his/her image.

Well, most ancient Pagan religions depicted their gods as humans. And as Jesus is both God and God's son and actually was human, I'm going to go with human. Although the depiction of Jesus generally used today is if I'm not mistaken actually some 14th or 15th century Italian used by another Italian in a picture of Jesus or something.

Question: does Jesus count, I mean, just because god decided to appear as man, doesn't mean god would "look" like a man. Care to explain your logic little more

On a side note: I all ways get a good laugh when people imagine god as a: old man, with a long beard, sitting on chair etc so childish and not very intelligent. By opinion any way :D

As said before, God apparently created man in His image. Of course, it'd be strategically the best idea to appear human, for both God or whoever was writing the Bible. In that period, I'd assume depicting God as an animal would be an insult, and depicting Him as some other intelligent creature, people might take it as some kind of demon.

And why is that? Especially back in the day, old men were generally regarded as the wisest around. No one is going to take a religion seriously if its deity is a kid, or in that time, a woman. Old age shows both wisdom and experience, not to mention God would be the oldest entity in the universe.

    1. Does it have to mean literally in gods imagine. Perhaps, brutally said, made us like its mind is. (if you get it)example: god is love thus god gave us love. And thus you could say he made us in he's imagine of love. (just one example)

    2. Exactly:" in the old days" of course, but if god is everything alpha and omega and that shit, its so limited to think that you a praying to a old guy... So so human kind of though:" I am human, can't think anything else god could look like" how about energy, or chemical that comes when you are in love or see something beautiful. Makes more sense to me. So yea I think you missed the point, I was talking about our times, you are talking about peoples imagine of god back in ancient times. Also if you have to imagine something that's old wouldn't make more sense to imagine radio waves from the big bang than an old man?

Also, just to clear. If I pray, and IF I imagine god as human figure, its always a hot lady. More convincing.

Well, that's true, and if you ask me, it's much rather the other way around. As in, we create deities in our image. I think it was a Roman or Greek philosopher who once said "If horses had hands and believed in deities, they would draw them as horses." or something along those lines. I do get what you're saying though.

Well, I guess the image never really changed that much, although once again, I get your point. I guess I should change my answer to if there indeed was a divine entity, I guess it'd be more of a formless, matterless power. So, the laws of physics.

Strange metaphor you got going on there.

Well sure it says god created man in his image and Jesus appeared as a man. I mean if god had appeared as Cthulhu and declared to be the son of god, it wouldn't have had quite the same effect. And... how would the guys who wrote the bible in the first place know he created man in his image. There's no way of telling after all.
