I agree with this. The British would've just taken the North-American provinces later on, this was especially easy to do after William III became king.

I think that it could have caused a major divide between the colonies on the American east coast, with the dutch having the north and the British having the south. This could have caused there to be no American revolution, in which case America would be a much younger nation, as it would have probably been granted its freedom. But to be honest the POD is just too far in the past to make a plausible prediction of anything after 1800.

Sorry typed the name wrong. Gorbatsjov was the last president of the Soviet-Union and his reforms led to the downfall of the SU.

Well the name is probably changed in translation. In any case to answer your question, I think if the Stalinist hardliners had kept power one of two things would happen. Either back to a strongly authoritarian communist regime, or a second civil war between people who want democracy and people who want stalinism back.

We already know what follows after the latter happens, so give us some more info about what would happen if that new regime would remain in power.

I think they would just go back to the same policies Stalin used to have. They would lock down the country, and the Cold War would continue. Who knows, if the hardliners were crazy enough they might provoke some wars, maybe they'd go back into Afghanistan or something. Also, it may inspire some Maoist hardliners in China to make a move.

If a conventional war happened odds are NATO would've won. The USSR just wasn't strong enough. I mean, the USSR got all the shitty nations like Bulgaria while NATO had like France. It was unbalanced from the beginning.

Do not forget China, Cube, Vietnam, North-Korea etc. all were allied with the USSR.

Cuba* is a shit tier nation along with Vietnam and the DPRK who were both recovering anyway from their civil wars. China may or may nor have helped Russia depending on the time period.
