The United States of Africa.

You guys do know there is a way to preserve culture and be united right? Its called complete freedom of religion and culture.

Well it doesn't really work that way. Look at it this way, the Laps in Northern Norway have complete freedom of religion and culture. There culture is still being diluted rapidly as it can't stand against the influence of our culture. There are no more reindeer herders who herd their reindeer on foot, it is done using helicopters and snow mobiles.

Similar situations would happen all over Africa... The problem there is that Africans have a history of being very militant when it comes to preserving their culture. I mean most countries in Africa can barely hold themselves together because of the cultural/tribal differences in that 1 country, now imagine that multiplied by a thousand when the entierty of Africa gets united under one banner. Keeping their cultures is simply not a plausible option.

Well, you do make a point. But I imagine that some major cultures can survive. There are a lot more cultures in Africa than Norway
Also, changing your culture isn't the same as completely losing it.

Yes but not without a major blood shed as tribes, guerrilla groups and the government forces all fight each other.

Which is why a United Africa cannot work right now. It cannot work until the major cultures emerge and begin uniting their cultures together. I see a United Africa working in these steps.

1. Cultures begin to emerge more and more powerfully

2. Eventually, these main cultures will unite the areas around them that are made up of primarily this culture, and Africa will become 5 or 6 major countries.

3. Then these countries would create a EU like organization.

4. If this organization succeeds, the nations may fully unite even further down the line

That is why the UN and US and Europe train their soldiers and help keep the country stable financially so they can fund their military.

And then the unicorns return to Africa, right?

I know. The UN and US giving that much support to Africa is about as likely as unicorns returning to Africa.

In about 10 years when the world economy is doing pretty good, maybe.

Nope. Not even maybe. If you expect us to go into an even worse Africa in 10 years, then you're insane. Africa is a strange continent. Half of it is heavily industrializing and modernizing, and half of it is dying...

No it's just a very good example why it will never work.

Elaborate. I don't know the history of Quebec (besides its a former French colony and how it was taken by the British).

Parts of it, maybe. But the majority will get steadily worse without help. There is a such thing as too little too late, and waiting 10 more years to give them things we should be giving them now, is exactly that.

Quebec is an example of how mixing so many cultures and languages will end badly. Quebec is in a developed country without large stockpiles of weapons and even then they want to separate and bombings resulted. Now if you just united all of Africa you would have multiple groups of people with different culture and language expect they have massive stockpiles of weapons and they just don't want to be a part of it.

Um... Why not use the US as an example.

I'm Canadian there fore I will probably use Canadian examples more.
