Coming from a country where there almost are no religious people (if they are they keep it private) this is interesting.
When I was small, my parents never talked about religion or politics believing I should form my own opinion. I thought that believing in a god was like believing in santa (no one does past a certain age). So the first time I went to USA I felt really uncomfortable seeing how big religion was. Then I developed a stern anti USA mindset thinking they had retarded politics (still does) attacking random countries for oil didn't help.
I will probably never really understand how a life where religion plays a big role is.

Isn't that something I had said? This proves the Pope cannot be blamed for killing people with AIDS, because these people are sinning and going against the pope by having pre-marital sex anyways. So, actually, if people followed everything the pope said, then HIV infections would be sown significantly, not up. Your argument is invalid because you are saying that everyone follows the pope's laws, yet the quote above contradicts that and now you are saying god and the church tries to prevent pre-marital sex, which would stop the spread of HIV anyways.

I don't know how old you are so dont know if you ever experienced it, but the sexual instincts implemented in us through evolution are the most hard to ignore insticts created. And it has a point too. Monogamie is a-natural. It is not helpfull for ensuring that there will be a human race in the future. Now, this point is mood, because we enslaved the planet under our will and there is no risk of us dying out because we don't spread ou genetic code out much. And maybe, in a few million years, this sexual urge is lessened in the race that will come after us.

I highly doubt you can speak Latin, and Ancient Greek.

He has a (bachelor?) degree in ancient history. It's a huge bonus if you are studying stuff written in greek or latin to you know be able to read them in greek or latin.
