First of all you are Catholic. The dominant Religion in Germany is Protestant. Therefore somewhere along your family line, one of your ancestors most likely married a non German. This is further supported by the fact you are American. Your family most likely did not only exclusively marry other Germans (unless they are very concerned about "polluting their blood lines"). To even have a chance of being considered 90% German your family would pretty much have lived in Germany since the 1700'ds. You may be related to Germans on both sides of your family but that still doesn't make you 90% German.
So because of my religion it means I am not that German? That is like saying, if I were Muslim and my family came from France, I am not that French. Dude, I am an ancestor of Barbarossa. My original last name was German before my great-grandparents changed it to Williams. I am descended from Barbarossa, suck it.
Did you just disregard everything i wrote in my post? Read it again before you post something stupid. Also yes if you are a Muslim there is a slim chance you are 90% french. As there are very few ethnically french Muslims. Somewhere allong your family line someone converted, most likely because of a spouse that was that religion and therefore most likely not ethnically french. I explained this all in my previous post... You just seem to have the inability to read.
You stated "you won" because you are descended from Hessian Troops whereas my German ancestry traces back to the 1100s I am descended from Barbarossa (Catholic). My mom is Protestant mind you. My dad is Catholic but his grandparents weren't. You apparently think you know my ancestry but in fact you don't.
And a billion other people can trace their ancestry back just as long. Only a few hundred people in the world can trace their ancestry to the Hessian Troopers.
Does no-one on this thread not know that while much of Germany is basically the most well-known home of Protestantism, the south is mostly Catholic? The current Pope is from Bavaria, which when I last checked was quite famous for being a rather Catholic place.
