First I should say that I am a strong believer in individual liberties and freedom of expression. I think that people should be responsible enough that they can view flawed information put out by others and not be influenced by that. I think if they cannot do that then that is their folly. Recently Tumblr and some other sites have changed the rules so that if you post pictures encouraging eating disorders like anorexia then they can and will ban you. These pictures are surprisingly common and basically just glamorize really skinny women. I can see the moral reasons behind such a decision but I don’t care. This is my blog and I shouldn’t have to be politically correct here. I don’t give a damn if weak minded youths are brainwashed by malicious tumblr blogs into starving themselves. Serves them right. Proving yourself a total moron and starving yourself is no concern of mine and frankly I think there’s something to be said for natural selection in an instance like this. Yeah yeah okay maybe a little harsh but understand I am not wishing harm unto young girls or boys. I just think that it should be their responsibility to THINK and reject idea’s that are proposterous. People should be ashamed to be this STUPID but apparently being stupid is socially acceptable or even popular in modern society. It is none of my business if someone starves themselves because they saw a picture of a skinny girl, and frankly we should let them go about their nonsense. It’s their life, not ours. Oh and lastly I've heard the "it's a disease they can't help it" argument before and I call bullshit. If it's some disease why would it be instigated by pictures of skinny chicks on the internet?
THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE WHO WON'T GET HURT BY YOUR EMPTY AND MEANINGLESS WORDS. But yeah, I agree with the both of you. And even if anorexia is a disease, I don't see how people who suffer from it would proudly post pictures of themselves on the internet to show everyone how much they fucked up their body. Of course, they're allowed to do so, but with everything on the internet: If you're going to post something, anything, it doesn't need to be extraordinary or anything, always be prepared of criticism at all times.
How compassionate of you. I'm sure having unrealistic standards of young people and then insulting them after they fall victim to this kind of shit is completely reasonable. But seriously. From my experience and own actions, young people aren't that developed to reject that kind of social pressure. I doubt that holding them to a standard not many of them can achieve is helpful to anyone.
People are pretty stupid these days. You'll have a big sign that says "Wet Paint" and people will still sit on the bench making a complete fool of themselves.
So you want to punish people who critisise themselves? I am of the favour that you should be able to express yourself on your own blog, but in the society we live in unachievable images are shoved in teens faces. Now I have no problem with people posting pictures unless they actively encouraging people to starve themselves, then they should be dealt with.
Oh, i'm sure he'll appreciate that (rather than say, call you a prick and put a picture of Franck Ribery on your wiki page). For some reason I can't quite put my finger on, this thread reminds me of the one about cyber-bullying.
