So, the house of Representatives have passed CISPA 241-168 . From what I understand, Obama 'Disproves of the bill', although if we were to look back on the NDAA, that doesn't really mean anything. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if it passes through the congress (I forget which one is the upper/lower) and if it does, whether or not Obama will veto it.. Ain't got much commentary on this one, I mean, I've pretty much exhausted all of my 'US is turning fascist' speeches from the last several bills in this Zerg-Rush of evil-ness.

    Isn't CISPA a copy of SOPA/PIPA/ACTA?

From what I understand, it's basically a copy of the three, except it is politically worded toward 'Cyber security' rather the piracy. So it's worse.

Why aren't there fucking protests against this? The mass protests from online communities and websites and everything?

Obama has promised to veto it and unlike ndaa it isn't something that is going to cut funding for the armed forces if he does. I'm inclined to believe most of the coverage is sensationalist because having talked to my representatives and from everything I've read during the SOPA debate, it doesn't seem like congress is trying to target internet freedom. There is a will to stop online piracy, but most legislators are careful to differentiate that from people being able to express themselves on the internet.

Also it would need to pass the senate in an identical fashion and if it doesn't it goes to conference committee where they try to combine the house and senate versions into one bill. Then that gets re-voted on by both chambers, and then it would go to Obama's desk. And that's how a bill becomes a law

Will they want to? It seems to me that neither the house nor the senate gives a damn about our personal liberties as long as the companies that own them get at least a little more profit.

Well, if I am not mistaken, the house is controlled by the Republicans and the Senate by the Democrats. So the senate might just veto it for that reason.

The Senate isn't going to veto it. And even if they do it just goes back to the House, gets revised a little, passes again, and goes back to the Senate. Then it just devolves into an intricate game of catch.
Of course it does, all bills do.
Because it isn't targeted against piracy anymore and isn't as well publicized. It is intead targeted against cyber terrorism and aimed at beefing up cyber security. So, not nearly as many people care. Most people don't really look into these things, and therefore they do not know it is essentially SOPA under a new name.
Just saying, ACTA was an international law thing. I believe its still in the works and many nations don't really care if their people don't like it. I'm pretty sure the US already signed it.

On the contrary, breaking the internet seems to be the only issue both parties aren't partisan retards about. I personally can't wait till we put these old fucks in the ground and replace them with a more up-to date stock.

You're right in this case, but unfortunately, sometimes parties matter more than your own opinions. I don't agree with it, but politics is like that sometimes.

Obama wouldn't pass such a controversial bill during his election year. It would be a massive political blunder for him to do that and Obama is a PR genius. It's good to worry just in case, but it really shouldn't be a problem.

Exactly. Good time for this bill to come, actually. This way he had no choice, in terms of PR but to veto it.
