So, I'm trying to develop a simple(ish) symbol for Earth. All I need is a symbol that represents life/unity? Right now, I'm leaning towards the yin-yang, but I'm positive there are better ones out there. So, any suggestions?

    Yin yang is very good.

You could also use the world flag, but it's hideous.

World Flag sucks!!! It hurts my eyes!

And I made a kind of symbol of my own:

The blue circle obviously represents Earth, and the 6 stars represent the 6 continents. The continents I chose to represent are South America, North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa. That doesn't count Australia, otherwise it would be 7 stars :p

    Reminds me of Star Trek.

I'll post my other symbol tomorrow, it has the Earth symbol on it. The other symbol, while being very simple, also has a lot of meaning, which I though a lot into :p

When was this flag made? The USSR's flag is on it.

    How about a rainbow flag?

Anyway, I don't know about you, but I don't think any symbol can represent unity of any kind. If you want something symbolic of unity, give an example, or go out of your way to achieve unity with other people.

Well, I was bored and had some more time before I usually go to sleep so....here is my other symbol:

Now, there is no real symbolism to the diamond shape other than I thought a diamond is best split into 4. You can all see the Earth symbol I made, in the outer upper left triangle. That obviously symbolizes, well, Earth. Notice my choice of colors, green and blue. Representing our oceans and continents. Now I know there are a lot of other colors on our continents, but when most people think Earth, we think of blue oceans with massive islands of green. Also, that is a color code for something else. I believe in Life, Liberty, Happiness, and Health. I consider Life and Health to go together, and Liberty and happiness to go together. So liberty and happiness are represented by green while life and health are represented by blue. I have 8 triangles. These triangles represent the 7 continents and then Earth as a whole. So, that's the symbolism behind this very random looking green and blue diamond. It represents a united Earth.
Well, I was sort of looking for a symbol to copy and paste onto the symbol above, to add a bit more symbolism to it, which is why I chose to take 20 minutes and think of an "Earth" symbol.

Just cause I felt like it. And I am strongly considering getting into politics when I am older, and beginning to advocate for a united world. I probably won't see it happen in my lifetime, but at least I might help get the process started. And if I do go into politics, I'll need a new party and that party will need a symbol. We're not gonna have some animal, we'll have a diamond chocked full of subtle symbolism.

Well if you do, make sure to replace the world flag with something else to represent global unity. The world flag is one of the ugliest things ever created.

It would be replaced with just a flag. The flag would somehow symbolize the different cultures of Earth and the human population. I think my symbol would be a major part of the flag too ;)

I mean, I really, really despise this sort of thing, but I can't find anything more appropriate to express my reaction:
