Well yes I agree. I just made a healthy reminder that don't judge at the first glance. You never know someone's entire story.

Yes. I wasn't attempting to say ALL fireman/policeman/servicemembers aren't heroes, but the majority clearly aren't.
Hero is a word that is VERY open to interpretation. Because, following the second definition, almost everyone is a hero.

Basically, a hero is whoever anyone thinks a hero is. Everyone has differing opinions on who is a hero. To most, a hero is a soldier, to others, a soldier is a villain. Like you said, its open to interpretation, rendering this whole argument pointless.

Because you're one of the aforementioned attention-seeking assholes. It's no different than refusing to tip "on principle".
    That doesn't even make sense.

I can't argue with that intense logic or the knowledge that post brings. I guess i'm beat you won, killing people in a 1337 way makes you a hero especially if it's in one cool haxx scenery with music and explosions and stuff that wicked cooooool.

(That wasn't a personal attack or saying that you are some 12 year old cod fan. It was just that it is impossible to say anything logical against that post which shows exactly how you think. It was very childish but oh well that's me.)

According to Kali, its our social obligation to call soldiers heroes. And its ok to call our soldiers heroes, but the minute someone says Stalin (the real one) is a hero, they'll get jumped in the street.

And once we reached the conclusion that the title of hero is very subjective, we all went to the nearest bar to have some drinks. One hour later we noticed that Shaw had disappeared.

So I'm attention-seeking for refusing to call soldiers who have done nothing important heroes? I'm sorry, just because they're fighting for some perceived notion of freedom, doesn't mean I'm going to call them heroes. As Sly said, a hero is someone YOU think is a hero, and I refuse to think all soldiers are heroes. Now stop with the ad hominem and start concocting actual arguments, because all you ever fucking do is insult people. Your no better than motherfucking Che, just a pro-capitalist asshole instead of an anti-capitalist asshole. And how is it no different than refusing to tip "on principle"? Come to think of it, what the hell do you mean? What the hell principle is there in tipping someone?
You said people that refuse to call all soldiers heroes also don't give tips. How is there any correlation between the two?
@Yarpen, we're gonna have trouble finding a bar we can all get to....:p

You were exposed to something harmful?
    That was highly offensive?

It doesn't have to be harmful or offensive to be obnoxious. It's just really, really, annoying.

Thought experiment, which of these are heroes?

    1. A soldier who jumps on a grenade to save foreign civilians.
    2. A soldier relaxing at a base who dies instantly from a sniper shot.
    3. A soldier who guns down civilians and is shot by enemy combatants.
